A beautiful detached home ideal for extended family breaks and perfect for weddings at the famous Gretna Green!
The large kitchen with range cooker, sitting room with wood burner and bedrooms with private balconies make this a wonderful destination for those looking to explore the wonderful region of Dumfries and Galloway.
Close to Gretna it is an ideal base for a wedding party or extended family.
Furry friends are welcome.
The space
Arrive at Notwen Bower and you will be greeted by the impressive house and gardens.
GROUND FLOOR
KITCHEN:- You will find a spacious, fully equipped and beautifully presented kitchen with large table that will seat 12 guests comfortably, the perfect setting for breakfast, a light lunch or full evening meal you will find everything even the most demanding chef could wish for and with the range cooker and additional oven there is plenty of room to prepare the most ambitious meal!
MAIN SITTING ROOM/FORMAL DINING ROOM:-
The main sitting room is located at the rear of the house with views over the gardens.
Comfy sofa's are arranged to make the most of the spectacular fireplace and wood burning stove making this the ideal space to get together for a cosy evening.
The room is warm, welcoming and cosy in cooler months and is just perfect to host a family Christmas!
SNUG/PLAYROOM:- In addition to the main sitting room there is another spacious sitting/play room. This is a great spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the main house with a good book or to watch your favourite TV show. If you have children in your party, this is ideal as a playroom, equipped with games and a TV and with comfortable seating they will quickly claim this room as their very own! It has a patio door leading directly out to the garden and play area.
BEDROOM 1:- Great for guests with restricted mobility, this ground floor bedroom has a super comfortable double bed and lovely doors opening to the gardens.
BATHROOM:- For convenience there is also a bathroom located on the ground floor. With shower cubicle, WC and basin this is great for guests staying in the ground floor bedroom.
UTILITY ROOM:- A very handy room with washing machine, ideal for wet clothes after hiking or cycling.
FIRST FLOOR
MASTER BEDROOM:- The master bedroom suite really is a wonderful space! A large room beautifully presented, it sports a comfortable double bed. The room has double doors that open out to a private balcony area which is perfect for a relaxing morning coffee! The private ensuite bathroom with bath is the ideal place to soak away the days activities with a glass of bubbly! In addition, there is a separate dressing room with dressing table and wardrobes.
BEDROOM 3:- Again with an en-suite bathroom with full size bath, over bath shower, WC and basin, this spacious bedroom is light and bright with it's own private balcony.
BEDROOM 4:- The twin room, with 2 single beds this is a great room for any children in the party.
BEDROOM 5:- A good size bedroom with double bed and plenty of storage for personal belongings.
Guests 11 & 12 would sleep on one of the sofa beds within the property.
OUTSIDE SPACE
Notwen Bower benefits from a charming large garden with lawned spaces, beds, orchard trees and even a swing set for children with boundless energy! The seating area is ideal for getting together on long warm summer evenings (we have more than you may think here in Scotland!).
There is ample car parking on the driveway of the house for up to 5 cars.
THE AREA
On the doorstep of Gretna Green, Notwen Bower is the perfect base for exploring this historical area and areas further afield on both sides of the border!
Dumfries & Galloway boasts a wealth of activities to cater for everyone, from the most beautiful hiking & cycling routes to paddle boarding, clay pigeon shooting to a day with Highland cows there really is something to do every day. The region is supremely rich in history with various castles, ruins and even the birthplace of JM Barrie's Peter Pan.

Guest will have access to entire property and private garden.
IMPORTANT: On behalf of our host at Pass the Keys, we require guest verification facilitated by Truvi (Previously called Superhog). Upon confirming your booking, Truvi will contact the lead booker via a secure link, providing detailed instructions for the verification process.
The online verification requires a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card. During this process, you may choose between a refundable GBP 500 deposit (plus GBP 10 transaction fee currency equivalent) or purchase a non-refundable damage waiver of GBP 40 (currency equivalent) to cover potential damages during your stay.
Once the verification process is successfully completed, check-in information will be provided. If you opted in for a deposit, this will be refunded via credit/debit card after your stay, subject to an inspection of the property.
