Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
Town: The small village of Rogart lies in the county of Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. The village is known for once being the home to Major Andrew MacDonald, who fought into the French and Indian War. The village is also home to the Rogart Railway station, which has become something of an informal outdoor museum of railway memorabilia. Within the village, there is a convenience store, petrol station, a Parish church and a traditional Scottish pub. The nearby coastal village of Golspie is well worth a visit, offering a long sandy beach, which attracts many visitors in all weather conditions, along with a thriving high street lined with independent businesses, restaurants, pubs and cafés. Rogart makes a charming base for touring this beautiful part of Scotland.
