Picturesque Cottage Retreat : Countryside to Coast.
Relax and unwind in this charming, character sandstone cottage with it's gothic-style windows and carvings. Underfloor heating downstairs and a cosy log burner will keep you warm in cooler seasons as you look out at the hares, pheasants and other wildlife that roam the grounds daily. With far-reaching countryside views, yet just a short drive from a choice of beaches, fashionable restaurants, bars and a host of sports and amenities, it's also ideal for visiting Liverpool, Chester and N. Wales.

* Free parking behind electric gates.
* Own grass garden and sandstone patio with dining furniture.
* King bed in downstairs bedroom with fabulous countryside views through large, gothic-style windows.
* 2 further bedrooms upstairs - double and twin.
* Very spacious, modern, fully fitted breakfast kitchen including a twin oven & grill, induction hob, microwave, instant boiling water from a Qooker hot tap, fridge, freezer, washing machine with built-in dryer, dishwasher, toaster and a De’Longhi coffee machine with LaVazza coffee, teabags and sugar.

* Living room with log burner and 50” HD TV.
* Underfloor heating throughout downstairs.

* Beautiful rural views with an abundance of wildlife throughout the gardens, most notably hares and pheasants.
Ideal for couples, families, anyone wanting a quiet retreat and for those working away on business. We are excited to welcome guests to our relaxing, picturesque cottage where you will immediately be surrounded by trees and a rich variety of wildlife and birds.
A wide front door opens into a living room with an L-shaped sofa, armchair and 50" UHD TV whilst the main window has beautiful views across a field where you'll often see horses and cows. An attractive, sandstone fireplace with a log burner will make you feel cosy on colder of days but more inviting still, the cottage is serviced by ground-source heating which means that the whole of the ground floor has underfloor heating permeating through its honeycomb-coloured tiles.
Off the living room room is a spacious, modern kitchen/breakfast room with seating for 6. The kitchen is fully equipped with a twin oven & grill, Siemens induction hob, a Qooker hot tap (providing instant boiling water although there is a kettle for those who prefer it), 1.5 sinks with mixer tap, fridge, freezer, washing machine with built-in dryer, Bosch dishwasher, toaster and a coffee machine. We include a helping of teabags, sugar and LaVazza ground coffee to start your day as well as a wide range of kitchen supplies from salt & pepper to tin foil.
The bathroom is situated downstairs (meaning anyone who struggles with stairs can avoid them) and comes with a WC, basin, bath with a manual-held shower tap plus a separate cubicle wireless-controlled overhead shower.
Finally downstairs you'll find the master bedroom with its king size bed, single wardrobe and a further small set of twin drawers. A boutique lounger rests in front of the wide widows where you can enjoy one of the best views in the grounds, across the garden to the adjoining fields and woodland in the distance. There is also a work desk and comfortable chair in the corner which can easily be switched round with the lounger to enjoy the views while working.
Back in the sitting room, a gothic-carved staircase leads up to the "Pheasant Bedroom" on the left which is decorated with one feature wall of pheasant wallpaper and is named because a small, arched window looks down the drive where you will often see pheasants as well as hares and other wildlife wandering. This room comes with a gothic-arched double-bed, a built-in wardrobe with a rail, shelving and space for storing bags. There is a matching gothic-arched mirror over a boutique seat and a dormer window for extra light.
Opposite this room is the "Seagull Bedroom," named because the field behind is where seagulls often congregate; a reminder that beyond the expanse of green fields we are never far from the sea. A couple of small, mobile steps allow adults a chance to look through the high, little window at these views whilst a dormer window lets in the majority of the light. Decorated with one feature wall of seagull wallpaper this room has a seaside theme and is designed with our younger guests in mind although there is a full size-single bed to suit older children and adults. A second, lower bed, ideal for children yet still full-length to accommodate adults, comes from a range of 'coastal' furniture and has a simple, beach-hut style children's wardrobe in the room to match. (Unavoidably, the heating system is also stored in this room behind two locked cupboard doors.) The duvet covers in this room are reversible, with a fun, seaside theme to appeal to younger children and a plainer stripe to appeal to older children / teenagers.
In an attempt to make guests feel as comfortable as they are at home, all bedrooms come with some black-out blinds or curtains, double pillows and sumptuously soft, double-lined blankets at the foot of every bed. In addition we supply full-sized bath sheets for adults and bath towels with a beach hut design to appeal to younger guests in the twin room.
An external rear door from the kitchen extends out onto an enclosed sandstone patio, ideal for outdoor dining on our table for 6 or taking in the views with a drink on a twin cushioned side-table bench. We've also sectioned off a lawned garden area for you to enjoy and to allow some space for children to play. If visiting in the autumn, feel free to help yourself to some apples from the tree here. One side of this garden adjoins a little-used private garden and is sectioned off - please see the section on "Access" for further details.
The views from this garden, patio and side of the kitchen, visible from the dining table, offer the best aspect to watch the magnificent sunsets. These areas look out over fields as far as the eye can see. Situated between two equestrian facilities further away, there are invariably horses to watch, often cows in the adjoining field, whilst hares, pheasants and other wildfowl take a daily stroll through the grounds and may come right past your windows. Ducks, hedgehogs, squirrels, partridges, woodpeckers and a host of garden birds are also common visitors whilst owls , buzzards and a few other birds of prey frequently circle the trees and fields and most days you'll hear geese flying overhead so nature-lovers may wish to bring their binoculars!
*Guest access*
Access is via 2 gates, the second of which is a security gate. A private code, timed to last the duration of your stay, will be allocated on the day of arrival. Vehicle registrations must be pre-registered for the code to work and no unauthorised vehicles are allowed in the grounds.
The cottage can then be reached at the top of a long driveway, available for vehicle access only. The cottage sits within the private grounds of a family home and comes with its own outdoor dining patio which is to be accessed directly from the kitchen.
We have also sectioned off an area of lawned garden for the cottage to the left and rear of the property (with the air source pump is stored on the left) which overlooks an adjoining field, often occupied by horses or cows. The right side of the cottage garden is relatively open-plan, with an above-ground rope fence separating it from an adjoining private garden because we don't want to interrupt guests' expansive views of the countryside or sense of spaciousness. Although family may sometimes be seen using our side of the garden, the cottage garden should be quiet and private for the majority of your stay as we mostly use another area. In return we ask guests not to wander elsewhere in the grounds as all other areas are private and are monitored for the security of the main house.
*Other things to note:*
The entrance to the driveway is near a bend so we advise visitors to do as we do and always turn left when exiting. There is a convenient turning on the right, just past the grounds, where you can swing back around at the bottom of Manor Road.
Families are very welcome but kindly note that infants and small children should be watched near the stairs as they could climb through the side of the rail owing to it's design - please see photo in main section. Baby gates are available on request in advance and are recommended.
No stag, hen or other "party" bookings. Owing to insurance, guests are not permitted to invite visitors, who are not registered to stay with us, into the house or grounds.
We will require the names of adult guests (only) and the ages of children (only) upon booking.
Please keep dogs on a lead at all times when outside (apart from on the patio which is enclosed) as there are nesting pheasants and hares in the grounds and the Bothy garden adjoins farmland with cows, sheep and horses nearby.

Über den Gastgeber
Zu Gast bei Diane Churchill-Evans

I grew up on the Wirral by the sea. I don’t have time to do much these days other than work and taxi the children with their busy commitments but in the before-times I loved parachuting and writing fiction. I still find time to eat chocolate!
I love hosting because I’m very appreciative of my surroundings and seeing other people on holiday and enjoying themselves makes me happy, even when I’m not on holiday! I strive to be the best host I can because time away with family and friends is so precious and I want people to leave with good memories.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
The cottage is in the grounds of our home and enjoys uninterrupted views of fields at the back. It is a peaceful location yet very convenient by car for the fashionable restaurants and bars in Heswall, the local beaches and woodland walks as well as fast motorway links to Liverpool and Chester.
Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
This ‘chocolate box,’ sandstone cottage is uniquely designed with detailed carvings, gothic windows and many features within.
What really makes it special are the families of hares, pheasants and other wildlife that roam the grounds daily and can also be seen in the fields behind.
Efficiently run on air source heating, the cottage has underfloor heating downstairs and a log burner to keep guests warm and cosy in the cooler months.
