Nestled amongst an array of similarly enchanting red brick houses in the ever-enviable neighbourhood of Balham, this five-bedroom home still finds a way to stand out. Its sprawling, impeccably-designed kitchen with its bold colours; its sunny private garden with plenty of room to spare; its graceful charm that permeates every room… all of these attributes add up to form an unforgettable experience. Then there’s the location: close to the gorgeous greenery of Tooting Common and the bustling vibrancy of Balham High Road, you’ll be living like a Londoner here in no time.
You’ll get a sense of the sheer scale of this home upon turning right immediately after crossing the threshold: find yourself in a spacious study, complete with a large desk, printers, an armchair and an entire wall made up of a packed bookshelf. Opposite, the main living room awaits, where warmth and comfort are the name of the game: two large sofas and an armchair sit serenely around a chic coffee table stacked full of books, all illuminated by a stunningly ornate chandelier. The art on the walls, the plentiful natural light, the moulded ceilings and countless other details combine to equal a welcoming, stylish living space.
Then, arrive in the open-plan kitchen area, where you’ll be stunned again by the levels of detail. The dark green kitchen itself steals the show: huge, L-shaped and centred by an expansive island, it's undoubtedly a highlight of the home. Budding chefs will love the big gas hob and the plentiful countertop space, while those who love entertaining in the kitchen will appreciate the stool seating along the island. The nearby dining table is housed in the brightest part of the house, surrounded on two sides by windows and offering seating for eight diners. Opposite the kitchen, a sitting room awaits weary travellers with a desire to watch their favourite flick on a big flatscreen TV.
From here, exit through the sliding doors and find yourself in a green oasis – like the rest of the home, the private garden is very spacious, featuring a courtyard with outdoor seating, a barbecue, and a turfed lawn complete with a trampoline and football goal.
Descend the stairs and find yourself in a sprawling space dedicated to entertainment. There’s no shortage of fun to be had in here: you’ll find a pool table, a bar, and a gigantic U-shaped sofa facing another flatscreen TV.
Climb the stairs and arrive at the first floor, where you’ll find the first bedroom, featuring a single bed, a desk and two large windows facing the garden. Another single bedroom can be found on this floor, this time facing the street and featuring its own en-suite bathroom complete with a walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. The final bedroom on this storey is the principal suite – a large, lavish space with a super king-sized bed, two wardrobes, a small desk and an armchair. Its en-suite bathroom is just as impressive: the bath in the centre of the room enshrines itself as the highlight, while the marble tiling, plentiful storage and ample natural light also make themselves known. Aside from the bath, you’ll also find a toilet, walk-in shower and double wash basin.
