Windmills is ideally located above Praa Sands beach, a picturesque stretch of golden sand where you can enjoy endless hours of fun. Build sandcastles, paddle in the shallows, explore the numerous rock pools or try your hand at bodyboarding, or surfing in the crystal-clear waters. The beach is life-guarded from Easter onwards and the lifeguards are located at the end of the beach closest to Windmills, meaning you too can enjoy a relaxing day on the beach. With facilities nearby including public toilets, bars, and a cafe, everything you need for a day at the beach is right at your fingertips, ensuring you can enjoy a traditional family holiday in Cornwall by the beach.
In the evening if you don’t feel like cooking then you have the choice of The Welloe (previously The Sand Bar) for dinner, everything on their menu is either eat in or take away. Underneath The Welloe is Stones Reef, a fun bar overlooking Praa Sands Beach, they don’t always serve food, but they have great foodie Friday pop-up events which are well worth seeking out. Or a short drive away you’ll find The Falmouth Packet Pub in one direction and Porthleven in the other: a harbour town packed full of beautiful places to eat; particularly recommend Kota Kai, Naughty but Ice (great pizzas) and The Ship Inn.
For those seeking adventure, the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for exploration. Lace up your hiking boots and set off on one of the nearby coastal paths, where breathtaking views and hidden coves can be found around every corner. Or why not try your hand at surfing or paddleboarding, with equipment hire and lessons available nearby for your convenience. The larger towns of Porthleven, Helston and Penzance are within a 10-20 minute drive making shopping for essentials easy. There are numerous attractions within a 30-minute drive including St Ives, St Micheals Mount, Marazion, Porthcurno, Minack Theatre, Flambards, The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, Paradise Park in Hayle or a visit to Kynance Cove and the peaceful estuaries around Falmouth and the Lizard.

Accommodation
Windmills is located at the end of a private track, off one of the two roads leading down to Praa Sands. The farmhouse is situated at the end of the dead end drive with easy parking next to the house, in the farmyard. Windmills is a first floor apartment with a further holiday home on the ground floor. Access to the farmhouse is via a small gate into the private garden; there is a shared front door and small hallway with the private entrance and staircase to Windmills at the back.
As you step inside, you’ll immediately feel at home in the welcoming ambiance of this cosy retreat. The sitting room, with beautiful sea views, is the heart of the home, where you can unwind together after a day of exploring. Sink into the two comfortable sofas with a good book or settle around the coffee table for a family game. There is also a wood burner for winter stays and a large, Smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen provides everything you need to whip up delicious meals for the family. With space and modern amenities, cooking is easy, whether you’re preparing a hearty breakfast or a leisurely dinner. Large window with views towards the sea (through the trees in the summer) and a family kitchen table and 4 chairs.
There are two good sized bedrooms; the master with king size bed, views to the sea, wardrobe, chest of drawers and ensuite shower room. The second with two single beds; both bedrooms offer a comfortable nights sleep for the whole family, after busy days exploring the wonders of Cornwall. With two bathrooms, one en-suite shower room and one full family bathroom (with bath and shower over) showering off that salt water at the end of the day is a breeze!
Outside, the garden provides the perfect spot for alfresco dining (there is a charcoal BBQ provided), the farmhouse is set within the grounds of a family farm and small, peaceful campsite so you can relax knowing you are in a safe and secure setting. If you are holidaying with children, you can relax whilst they play out safely, they will most likely meet a bunch of new playmates on the family friendly campsite! The night sky is truly breath-taking, so make sure you wrap up and do some stargazing.
FAQ’s
There are a couple of dwellings in the farmyard, one holiday flat on the ground floor and the farmers apartment to the side of the farmhouse. The kitchen is well equipped with oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, large fridge / freezer and washing machine. All bed linen, towels and beach towels are provided within the price. Wifi & Smart TV.
There is a garden at the front of the house, the area to the left belongs to Windmills. The garden is secure for dogs (make sure the gate is shut) but you will need to be respectful of any guests staying in the ground floor flat as they also have access to the garden. Parking for one car in the farmyard to the left of the farmhouse. This beautiful Cornish holiday home is dog friendly all year round. Nearby Praa Sands has a seasonal dog ban in place from 1st July to 31st August from 10am to 6pm; the nearest year round dog friendly beach is Rinsey, a 5 minute drive.
