Disappointing disaster
Unfortunately my story and plethora of problems is far too long to fit in this box. But summary it was a disaster. Whilst the property is lovely, clean, well equipped and modern I had possibly the most stressful booking experience of my life.
Firstly, the funds were taken out of my bank directly from the hosts property investment business rather than Vrbo as usual. And when taken were done so as a cash transaction for an investment causing bank charges.
The host does not reply to messages on Vrbo at all. Rarely answers the phone (many failed attempts by both Vrbo customer services and I), makes empty promises, ignores e-mails until he’s forced to reply and when i came to him with the problems of how the money had been taken, as advised by my bank to try resolve the problem, he largely told me that it wasn’t his problem, that it was between me, my bank and Vrbo and was somewhat rude and annoyed that I was ‘trying to put it on him’. I am the customer after all.
It took 2 weeks of chasing e-mails sent every 2-3 days to finally get my damage deposit back.
I’ve lost hours of time on the phone to Vrbo and my bank and after multiple broken promises of being reimbursed for my losses I have now given up and moved on as I don’t want it dragging on over the next 2 months to obtain my losses back. This box is too small to go into much more detail but my advice would be that the property isn’t worth the headache and you should just stay in one of the other many properties in the city.
