You are greeted at The Old Calf Pens by the friendly residents, sheep, donkeys and chickens! Set on a working family run farm it’s like stepping into a new way of life where nothing but farmland surrounds you for miles around. The farm has its own pop-up shop every Saturday so you can buy homegrown and handmade produce for your stay. Amongst these secluded Cotswold valleys you can choose to immerse yourself in the rural peacefulness, or head into the bustle of the surrounding Cotswold towns and villages.
Staying at The Old Calf Pens will suit a couple, friends, or a small family. Whether you are cooking, watching a film, or playing games while the fire roars you can spend time together. The spacious open plan living area is flooded with light from the striking floor to ceiling windows that overlook the diverse garden. Overhead are exposed wooden beams and you will notice the split levels where the barn was built into the shape of the land. Something interesting will take your eye at every turn with hidden surprises like the statement lilac sink in the twin bedroom. The main sitting area gathers around the wood burning stove and there is a kitchen/diner and TV area. There is a bedroom at each end of the barn giving guests extra privacy and a family shower room.
The cottage garden suits all seasons. Surrounding you with colour in spring and summer with grape vines twining around the walls and lavender filling the air with its scent. In winter you can bundle up with blankets under the tin roof listening to the rain before warming in front of the fire. Beyond the barn is open countryside, with the Gloucestershire Way long-distance walking route waiting to showcase this location.
