Throughout all of the seasons the views are captivating, watch in awe as the waves crash and foam from the warmth and calm of this haven or be enticed outside when the sun’s rays sparkle on the seas surface. Throughout the day the tides ebb and flow revealing the beach just 150 yards away. Tate Hill Sands were according to Bram Stoker is where Dracula arrived, when a ship of deceased sailors crashed onto the shore and in the form of a dog Dracula fled the ships ruins and raced up the nearby 199 steps to the iconic gothic Whitby Abbey perched on the headland. From here he had panoramic views and could choose his next victims. Many guests love the dark stories that surround Whitby, from Dracula to the ghost walks, and the annual Goth Weekends draw thousands of visitors from around the world. For history lovers there is much to see and do, with museums including Captain Cook’s and the Lifeboat’s. Plus, along this heritage coastline you can find many fossils as well as the precious black jet, which is used to create beautiful unique jewellery here.
