A few minutes from the medieval village of Santa Luce (PI), guests can enjoy a holiday in close contact with nature. Santa Luce is a small village in the province of Pisa. The center immediately betrays its medieval roots, it is a concentration of small houses and narrow streets, all very ancient. Walking inside you can breathe the same atmosphere as the Knights.
We are immersed in nature, silence and greenery, in an enchanting landscape that has fascinated the Macchiaioli painters for years. To protect this natural heritage, an oasis was established, the Oasis of Santa Luce, a lake created artificially from a dam, built by Solvay Italia in the 1960s. This Regional Nature Reserve which today can count on an area of​​approximately 105 hectares in the middle of large expanses of woods and Mediterranean scrub, can only constitute a point of reference for aquatic birds and therefore also for those who love them and wish to do bird watching.
For many years this town has been the cradle of the tradition linked to alabaster. There are rather large quarries from which this much appreciated stone is extracted and which was the basis for building many handicraft objects, in the parts of Volterra, not very far from here (not to be missed is the alabaster eco-museum in the center of the town) .
In one of the villages within Santa Luce, in Pomaia, the Lama Tsongkhapa Institute has been located for a long time, one of the most important Buddhist centers in Europe, always immersed in greenery and silence, in a landscape that cannot but reconcile meditation.
Santa Luce is also famous for the suggestive and fragrant lavender fields, which show their maximum splendor between the end of June and the end of July.
