Beautiful Cortijo & Casita With Exclusive Pool, Stunning Mountain Views New 2017

Two properties each with their own kitchens, bedrooms and living areas and their own covered terraces set 10/15m from each other in two acres of grass lawn with the beautiful large tiled pool.
There are a number of rose bushes across the land and a particularly lovely line of roses to one side of the pool. Mature oleander bushes edge part of the property and the terraces also have the inevitable pots of flowing geraniums which are such a feature of Southern Spain! The houses look out to the stunning Lujar mountains to the front and the Sierra Nevada to the back.
Arriving through the electronic gates, there is ample parking for 4 cars. The houses are 10-15m from each other on the property which is filled with olive, orange, lemon, peach, pomegranate, prickly pears, almond and avocado trees. Each house has a covered patio for outdoor dining and relaxing, and the casita also has a little patio at the rear for those quiet coffee moments away from the kids, or a cheeky glass of cava at the end of the day!! There is a table tennis table under the ancient olive tree on one of the Cortijo’s terraces.
The pool is a beautiful tiled 12m x 5m pool and has a magnificent rock for the kids to jump from. We defy anyone not to love the pool, from which there are views of the Lujar mountains on the one side and the Sierra Nevada to the other. Amazing at Easter when you can swim with a view of the snow capped mountains. The pool is swimmable up until early November and we are back in it in March!
The Cortijo is on two floors, and has two large master bedroom suites (one on the first floor and the other on the ground) each with ensuite bathrooms. The third double bedroom on the first floor (at the other end of the corridor from the upstairs master) has the original beams which are a feature throughout the house and shares the third bathroom with another small room. All bedrooms have A/C/ heating units. There are 2 put-me-up style folding beds that are available upon request for children. There is also a cot for the very small people! The downstairs double bedroom can be turned into a twin or even a triple bedroom if required. So the whole property can sleep up to 12 adults and a baby.
The eating and living areas are an open plan flowing set up with kitchen, two sitting areas, and dining as well as study area for those who need to work from home. The kitchen is new with all mod cons, in particular a large 5 burner cooker and an American style fridge.
To one side of the kitchen, through double doors is the study area, leading through to the dining room and "cosy" sitting room which is particularly snug in the winter with the fire roaring. This latter also has A/C heating unit. To the other side of the kitchen is the "fun" open plan sitting room with glass double doors opening out onto terrace looking toward the pool and Lujar mountain and beyond that is the downstairs master.
In addition, there is a lavadoro with washing machine and a spare downstairs loo annexed to the Cortijo, but also separately accessible by the Casita and from the pool/gardens.
The Casita looks out to the Lujar and has views straight down to the property’s own olive grove. It is on one level with two large bedrooms. Both are doubles, one with a king double bed and a vanity unit and the other has a double bed. Each has A/C heating units. There are one and a half bathrooms, utility area with washing machine and also has a large kitchen and comfortable living area.
Both houses are decorated in traditional Alpujarran style with terracotta floors hand-painted tiles in the bathrooms and kitchens, have open fires/wood burners for use in the winter but are cool, bright and airy during the hot summer.
Located in the Camino de La Estrella area on the outskirts of the bustling market town of Orgiva, it is a lovely 15 minute walk to town or just a matter of minutes in the car. Orgiva offers a range of shops, bars and restaurants as well as other useful amenities and is a popular destination for those who enjoy walking, cycling and horse riding as well as just chilling and appreciating the stunning views of the Alpujarras. There are stables a few minutes walk away from the house where they speak both English and Spanish. There is padel tennis available for booking if that's your groove. If you are looking for a secluded & relaxing getaway but close enough to local amenities then Los Conillos is the perfect spot.

• RESTAURANTS: Orgiva is packed with local restaurants and bars all of which serve local tapas free with your drinks! Our favourites are El Limonero and Venta Maria both run by locals and about 20 minutes walk away/few minutes drive; There is also the bustling town square with bars and a weekly market on a Thursday.
• COAST/BEACH: The Beaches nearby are only a 30 minute drive and can be located at Motril, with Playa de Granada being the nearest. This has various ‘chiringuitos’ to choose from with sun beds to hire as well as water sports on offer. Just five minutes further along the coast is the very pretty 'pink' town of Salobreña which hosts many lovely beach restaurants, on of our favourites being El Penon situated on a rock offering wide views of the bay as well as excellent food. Just a little further on are the coastal towns of Almunecar which has a terrific water park for the kids, and La Herradurra which is smaller with a pretty little horseshoe beach and one of the best chiringuitos we have ever been to - Playa Mango. And then of course there is Nerja offering a wide range of typical seaside activities with of course the historic caves which are astonishing.

• GRANADA: is a must and close too! It is a most beautiful old city with of course the incredible Alhambra (NB important to book well in advance). We have spent many a happy day wandering around the town and doing a “tapas” crawl! For those who want to go further afield is Cordoba with the amazing Mezquita and then not to forget Seville with its Cathedral.
• ALMERIA: THE WILD WEST: Where they shot the old spaghetti westerns. You can visit the film sets and see some real desert in the Cabo de Gata area of natural beauty. There are cute coastal villages too including the popular San Jose which we particularly love.
• DISTANCES: Orgiva is a short walk/drive away. The beaches start from being 30 minutes away. Granada, a 45 minutes easy drive. Nerja and the caves are roughly 1 hour away. The famous and enchanting white washed higher mountain villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira start at 20 minutes and are well worth a visit. The ski resort of Sol Y Nieve in the Sierra Nevada is just over an hour away and offers excellent and extensive skiing facilities for all ages and experience.
• TRAVEL: Granada Airport is 50 minutes drive and Malaga airport is approximately one hour and 30 minutes along the excellent coastal road. Both airports have good car hire services on site.

Amazing place with incredible pool + view!
More than enough space for 6 adults across the Cortijo and the Casita, with all the amenities you'd need and a great kitchen set-up. The outside area is incredible: plenty of space, lots of seating, a range of fruit trees, and it all feels really private. But for us, it was the very large pool and the brilliant mountain view that really made the trip! We were very happy to spend most of our time in the pool or reading on one of the sun loungers. Wendy was incredibly helpful and communicative before and during our stay. We had a very peaceful and relaxing time in this beautiful place, would highly recommend!

Perfect!
We loved everything about our stay! The house is lovely but the best bit is the garden: the pool is large and in the sun throughout the day, and the views are amazing. The local manager, Wendy, was very attentive. The table tennis bats were missing and she went straight out and bought new ones. The location of the house is perfect. Although Orgiva isn't the most beautiful of the Alpujarras villages, it has a range of good restaurants and a large supermarket, and it's perfectly located between the coast, Granada and the high Alpujarras. We hope to be back!

Lovely property with great views and pool
We chose this property as a base for some walking in the Sierra Navada and day trips to Granada, and for that it was ideal. The accommodation provided, the quality of the pool and the setting is excellent. The manager, Wendy, was particularly helpful. Orgiva is a typical rural Spanish town. It has several restaurants (all the ones we tried were good) and a decent supermarket but rather bland apart from the fact that it seems to have attracted a fairly bohemian expatriate community. Stunning mountain view with a fantastic pool
We had a fantastic time at the house. The view from the veranda to the garden, pool and stunning mountain backdrop is amazing. A couple of friendly owls, swifts and bats in the evening and a couple of kittens to keep us company in the day. It was ideal for our group - two families as the pool is a good size with a great boulder for jumping off from, nearby walks to the river and into town. We visited in August so it was hot but the house kept cool. A great riding centre nearby too for a horseride around the area. Really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing pool with beautiful view.
We had a group of 8 and stayed in both properties. The main house is lovely, and overlooks a huge pool with a beautiful view of the mountains. It really is stunning. The casita, a short walk across the lawn, has a great outdoor dining and seating area. The kitchen had everything we needed and it was good that we could make our own meals when we didn’t all want to be together. However, it is not of the same standard as the large house. We had a brilliant family holiday, relaxing in the large garden, swimming and jumping of the rock into the pool and playing table tennis. It felt like we were in a resort! Orgiva is not that exciting to visit, but has a great Consum ( supermarket) so we only ate the house, and BBQ most days. If you do want to explore, I recommend driving to the village of Pampaneira, definitely worth the trip up the mountain. But we mainly stayed lying on our Sun loungers under a tree by the pool!

Un écrin de rêve pour un séjour enchanteur
Une propriété idéalement située, proche de Grenade et des villages blancs. La Côte Tropicale, un peu plus lointaine, est cependant très accessible. La propriété est splendide, le jardin est très vert, vaste et bien entretenu. La piscine est sans doute la plus belle et grande piscine de toutes nos expériences de location, son accès est très aisé grâce aux marches. Le paysage environnant nous laisse sans voix, au calme. Les nuits étoilées sont paisibles. Les deux maisons sont très bien aménagées et très confortables. La literie est de qualité, il y a suffisamment de salles d'eaux pour qu'une grande famille multigénérationnelle ou deux familles puissent trouver leurs aises sans se gêner mutuellement. Equipements au top : salon de musique, salon de détente, grand jardin ombragé avec lits de soleil en suffisance, table de ping pong, barbecue au gaz, grand frigo américain, espace de parking sur la propriété, deux machines à laver, ... Nous regrettons déjà ce bel endroit ! Mention spéciale aussi à Wendy pour son accueil et sa disponibilité, ses conseils avisés.

Preciosa casa para familia en un entorno natural tranquilo
El alojamiento es magnífico tanto por los amplios espacios de habitaciones y cuartos de baño, salón muy bien decorado y cocina muy cómoda con todo lo necesario. La distribución en dos casas proporciona flexibilidad si van varias familias. El jardín es francamente grande y bonito con preciosas vistas a las montañas. La piscina es muy grande y complemento imprescindible en los días más calurosos. La atención por parte de los propietarios ha sido estupenda. Como aspecto a tener en cuenta la calle de acceso a la vivienda resulta incómoda pues es muy estrecha y larga. Hemos disfrutado mucho de nuestra estancia. Muy recomendable.

Un entorno privilegiado
Hemos tenido el gran acierto en elegir esta espléndida propiedad para pasar una semana en familia en un verano atípico por culpa del Covid. Tanto la casa principal como la casita cuentan con todas las comodidades y servicios, siendo muy de agradecer el aire acondicionado instalado en todas las estancias que hacen muy soportable las cálidas noches alpujarreñas de agosto. Pero sin duda es el entorno, sus arboles frutales y las espectaculares vistas lo que hacen de esta villa un sitio especial. A todos hay que añadir una gran piscina de aguas cristalinas. Hemos tenido oportunidad de recorrer los típicos pueblos de La Alpujarra y disfrutar con su rica gastronomía. Agradecer a Wendy (manager) su disponibilidad en todo momento, facilitando nuestra llegada antes de la hora y agradeciendo nuestras sugerencias al final de nuestra estancia para corregir algunas mínimas deficiencias. Como última sugerencia sería muy conveniente la renovación de algun colchón de la casita así como de las colchonetas de las hamacas de la piscina.

Great Holiday Home!!
We had a wonderful time in this glorious house with the fabulous virtually 360 views and a really great big swimming pool. The house itself is very comfortable with two living areas a dining room and a study, and a great well equipped kitchen with American style fridge. We tried each of the two master’s with the en suites which were equally comfortable – with super beds actually - and decided our preference was the upstairs one really because you got the best views of the mountains and pool. We were just two of us so didn’t need the casita but assuming its anything like the main house we would strongly recommend this home from home. We found a great restaurant just outside the village called Venta Maria which makes homemade pasta and was very reasonably priced. Orgiva town itself is a typical Spanish market town with the odd hippie floating about, with plenty of bars which serve free tapas. It was fiesta weekend when we were there so that was great fun on the Saturday night. We also went down to the beach in Salobrena (about 40 minutes by car) and found a terrific restaurant on the beach called El Penon which was adjacent to a hanging rock from which all the local kids jumped into the sea - very entertaining. Granada is close by, and a beautiful city it is with of course the wonderful Alhambra and some really good tapas bars. The weather was perfect so all in all we couldn’t have asked for a better week.

Beautiful views, lovely spacious house!
We had an amazing 2 week break at the end of July, in this beautiful property with panoramic views of the mountains at every window. We have 2 boys aged 5 and 7. The main large cortijo is spacious and keeps remarkably cool considering the high temperatures we had for the whole 2 weeks. The garden is amazing - loads of space, beautiful pool, table tennis and a garden full of fruit trees laden with fruit you can pick and eat whenever you want - oranges, sweet lemons and limes. At night, the solar lanterns hanging from the trees made it even prettier! We didn't use the smaller Casita on this trip but it would be ideal if friends came with us another year. The Cortijo is fully stocked and had all equipment needed for self catering. It was immaculately clean and plenty of towels and linen provided. The house got 5 stars but the only reason for the 4 start rating is the town of Orgiva is not the most beautiful in the area - a little scruffy and a bit bohemian - but all the people were very friendly. There are lots of beautiful mountain villages to explore in the Alpujarras and the area lived up to its reputation of being the "swiss alps of Spain" as everywhere was amazingly green and lush compared to other valleys we visited. The beaches of Salabrena are only a 40 minute drive away. The best quality food we found was at the pizzeria driving out of town down the hill - lots of tourists there the night we were. Although we enjoyed the Molino restaurant in town as felt we were more with the locals and the staff were lovely and friendly to the boys. A great holiday thank you and a beautiful spot.

Good property in stunning location
The cortijo and casita together were an excellent holiday location for our mixed age party of 11. The accommodation was very comfortable, there was a reasonable amount of outside seating/space, the pool and garden were exceptional and succeeded in keeping the children safely occupied for hours at a time. The views from the patio were stunning and I for one would never tire of them. The 20 minute walk into the town was enjoyable as was the fact that it's down hill on the way back and Orgiva has a number of good places to eat/drink and has an extremely relaxed feel. The Thursday market is well worth a visit. Overall, thoroughly recommended!

Beautiful property with stunning views in a tranquil location
Our stay in this property was great. The house is located on the outskirts of Orgiva down a quiet lane. It would be quite a walk into the centre of the town from the house but ok for someone who doesn't mind a 30 minute walk, otherwise it's a 5 minute drive and there are plenty of places to park in the town. The house has a new extension that has been added onto the kitchen area which provides a large, light, lounge area and a double bedroom with a great bathroom with a wonderful shower. The lounge area off of the extension also opens onto a covered terrace which is perfect for eating in the shade whilst also offering the opportunity to enjoy the view across the garden and swimming pool and the mountains directly opposite which is truly beautiful. The pool is fantastic, a good size and sun loungers and umbrellas are provided. The garden itself is quite large and whilst the pool and garden are beside a lane it really does still feel secluded as the lane isn't busy at all with people or cars and the fencing and trees offer a lot of privacy. The bedrooms in the older part of the house were great, the main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and looks out over the garden and that incredible mountain view again and there are two further bedrooms that share a nice bathroom. We really didn't need to use the lounge area of the ground floor of the older part but it was obvious that it would be very comfortable and cosy if for any reason you needed to use it in any milder months of the year. We didn't use the smaller Casita at all during our stay but if it is anything like the main house that I am sure that it would be great. We were met on arrival by a helpful couple who look after the property and they provided us with some basics in the fridge to keep us going on the first day which was a nice touch. We didn't really eat out or go out much in the evening in Orgiva but that was because were were very happy to eat in at the house itself and spend time there. We visited Granada for the day and one of the beaches near to Almunecar, both of which were only 45 mins away. Orgiva is also within easy reach of the beautiful villages of the Poqueira Valley and the area is great (but challening) for cycling. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully return in the future.

A Lovely Holiday
We had a great time staying here. A real home from home. Classy accommodation and facilities that has a great mix of the modern and traditional. Lots of space in the grounds. There's even an olive grove! The views are simply breathtaking - watch the mountain in front turn pink as the sun goes down. Days were spent around the beautiful pool and nipping into Orgiva town centre, which takes just over 5 mins in the car, for shopping and a sneaky glass or two. Visited the coast (Salobrena) for the beach and lunch one day (El Penon - highly recommended) - an easy and scenic journey, as it is to Granada city which we visited for a spot of culture. Los Conillos is a charming place and we would definitely come back for a repeat visit.

A taste of the real Spain
Came for a week to get away from it all and Los Canillos was just the ticket. I woke to the sound of the birds and the water running down from the mountains and with the smell of orange blossom in the air. In the afternoons you see the sheep and goats passing by the property.The houses are framed by the Alpujarras to the front and the Sierra Nevada to the back and the views are quite simply breath-taking. Both houses are beautiful and decorated in a very sympathetic way with real rustic, Spanish charm, but still having all the necessaries.. The local village had everything I needed and while there are tourists here as the area is one of outstanding beauty, I knew I was in a working Spanish village rather than a centre simply catering for the foreign influx. The weather was fabulous during my stay and I even swam in the lovely saltwater pool which was certainly bracing the refreshing! I wouldn't hesitate to come back here the next time I just want to get away. It is the perfect retreat for anyone wanting some peace and quiet. I imagine it is much livelier in the summer but as a quiet Spring break, it was perfect.
