Situated just a stone’s throw away from the village of Calonge, a gentle morning stroll for fresh croissants and bread will soon become an endearing start to each lazy day spent in Es Fasser, whilst a handful of restaurant patios, emanating appetising aromas to the gentle lull of chatter and laughter from a nearby tavern, will provide further excuse to leave the car behind and relish the warm, summer evenings to the full.
With origins dating as far back as the 17th century, Es Fasser provides a perfect base from which to explore this stunning part of the island – that is of course, if one can resist the captivating ambience that it evokes.
Encompassed by fruit, almond and palm trees huddled to one side of a lovingly tended lawn, this stone-clad country home comes complete with wooden shutters, sandstone arches and small wishing well. A salt water infinity pool offers promise of daily family entertainment, watched over by a small chill out area – perfect for doing just that. The grass area can comfortably accommodate an energetic game of frisbee and obscured behind a distinctive stone wall, a small niche beckons, ideal for soaking up the sun whilst immersing yourself in a good novel, amidst Bougainvillea and carefully placed, rustic plant pots.
A substantial amount of holiday time will surely be apportioned to the shady, beamed terrace, a couple of steps from the pool. With in-built barbecue, long wooden table and direct access to the house through scenic windows spanning ceiling to floor, the main focal point naturally shifts to this area, as the sun goes down and the rumblings of hunger begin.
The cosy and spacious interior is a pleasant blend of stone feature walls, wooden beamed ceilings, hanging lanterns and ornate ceramic tiled bathrooms, complemented with a ‘dash of modern’ and far reaching views from the upper floor rooms. A fully equipped kitchen and open plan living/dining area with high beamed ceilings are light, bright and a pleasure for everyone to congregate in. With the majority of bedrooms benefiting from en suite facilities, the room distribution of this welcoming home has been carefully thought out, including easy wheelchair access to ground floor rooms, making it ideal for large groups or a multi-generation holiday. Quality ‘together time’ enjoyed in the spacious, communal areas can be adjourned, in order to retreat to one’s own space to relax and unwind.
Be sure to remember where you left those car keys, as Cala D’Or is a 5 minute drive, offering an array of boutiques, an elegant marina and fine dining, whilst some of Mallorca’s most idyllic beaches and coves are situated just a few minutes further. The Vall D'Or Golf is also close to hand, with restaurant, club house and breathtaking coastal views, for those not wishing to try their hand at a round of golf.
