26a Marygate is part of the conversion of the former York Post Office Club and has been beautifully done. This part of the building has just three two bedroom apartments, each one finished to an extremely high standard. The building is situated off Bootham on a quiet street, facing the historic ruins of St Mary's Abbey. First built in 1088 it is all that remains of one of the wealthiest and most powerful Benedictine monasteries in England.
Garden View Apartment - is situated on the second floor of the building. As it is situated at the top of the building you have a birds eye view of Museum gardens and the Abbey Ruins. The huge arched windows ensure that the apartment is flooded with light. The refurbishment hasn't encroached on the magnificence of the windows, and the light airy feeling is continued through the apartment with the high ceilings and light wood floors. There is also a luxurious en suite, complete with a bath with shower over, double sinks and underfloor heating.
The second bedroom again has wall to wall storage and a wonderful double bed to sink into at the end of a very busy day of fun! The house bathroom serves this bedroom and has a walk in shower, again with underfloor heating.
