Belvedere Cottage

Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Belvedere Cottage is a semi detached property and can accommodate up to six guests providing its guests with spacious and well-furnished holiday accommodation suitable for a family or small groups of friends to come together. It’s also Dog friendly permitting a single dog to stay (at a small additional cost).

Inside this beautiful character stone cottage on the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious living room with a wood burner and Smart TV, a modern open plan kitchen/dining room, as well as a separate shower room. On the first floor there are three bedrooms comprising of two double bedrooms and a twin room, that can be made into a Super king bed on request, there is also a family bathroom suite on the same level.
Outside there is parking for two vehicles on the driveway and you can enjoy an evening meal out in the garden space, which offers glimpses towards the English Channel.

Belvedere Cottage can be found in an area known as the undercliff, a unique location between the cliff and the sea which provides a micro-climate, an ideal haven for a variety of flora and fauna, many species of which are only found in Mediterranean countries. The surrounding coastline gives access to beaches and coves such as Woody Bay and Steephill.
Ventnor is just over two miles away where you will find a number of lovely seaside tea shops, pubs and restaurants dotted along the esplanade. There are also some quirky and bespoke shops, a park and a children’s paddling pool. The town, which for the most part is built on the steep hill leading to the beach, retains its original seaside charm and makes a great day out for all the family.
Sea and cliff walks can be found along the coastal paths in both directions from the property, and outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for. There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages, including The Needles with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and Gardens, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes.

LOCATION:

St. Lawrence is a 5-minute drive from the cosmopolitan town of Ventnor, with its popular shingle and sandy beach, where freshly caught fish of the day can be purchased at the marina. Blackgang Chine is nearby, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, and also within easy reach are the Needles and Alum Bay. Other attractions include Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Isle of Wight Pearl, Dinosaur Isle, a donkey sanctuary and Calbourne Water Mill, which has a 17th-century working watermill. Osborne House and Gardens (Queen Victoria’s holiday residence), and Carisbrooke Castle are a short distance away. The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes, and the popular resorts and Shanklin and Sandown are nearby.

Bedroom 1: double bed, bedside tables, large wardrobes with drawers and dressing table
Bedroom 2: double bed, wardrobe with drawers and bedside tables
Bedroom 3: twin 3ft singles (can be made into a Super king on request), bedside cabinet and chest of drawers.
Bathroom: bath with overhead shower and additional handheld shower attachment, toilet and wash basin

ADDITIONAL CHARGES / SERVICES:

PLEASE NOTE: a pre-authorised, refundable, security deposit of £250 will be required before arrival at the property. No money will be taken, unless any damage is reported at the property within 14 days of your departure.

(This property can accept a maximum of 1 pet(s). The charge is £35 per pet, per week and we kindly ask that you bring your own bedding for your pet(s). Please ensure that you correctly add your pet(s) when making your booking, so this additional cost is included. If it becomes apparent that you have brought a pet(s) with you but did not advise us, we will contact you to request payment separately.

There is no electric car charger on site and guests are prohibited from using the mains electric in the property to charge a car, unless agreed prior with the owner of the property. If it becomes apparent a car is being charged without approval, then the guest may be charged an additional amount to cover the extra cost. OR

The Island Holiday Company are responsible for the marketing only, of this property and the owners’ details will be made available to you by email ahead of your arrival, should you need to contact them with any issues or queries relating to your stay, please also refer to your property brochure left inside the property, for further information and contact details.

No stag or hen parties are permitted at any of our properties.

There is a strict no smoking/vaping policy, inside all our properties.

Linens and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels and cot linen as necessary.

Please be advised there are sloping banks in the courtyard.

Initial logs for wood burner included. Guests will be required to purchase more if required.

Please be respectful of the property and the neighbours during your stay; leaving the property as you found it on your arrival.

A breach of the above rules and guidelines could mean forfeiture of the Security Deposit.

Great stay
I booked Belvedere Cottage for some friends. The contact with the person running it was easy and prompt. The food provisions and cake in the fridge were much appreciated. The house was maintained to a high standard and our friends were thrilled with it all.

Fantastic short break
Cottage is beautiful with everything you could possibly need. Quiet location and realistically you need a car to get to local amenities which we liked. Welcome pack when we arrived with fresh bread, cake and beverages, milk and butter, a really nice touch. Concierge contacted us prior to visit to check our requirements and was available on the phone to talk us through the cooker. Everything furnished to a high standard and the beds are huge. We will return without doubt. A radio for the kitchen would be nice.

A charming cottage with sea views from garden, stayed for Christmas and it was fantastic- Chrismas tree, log burner and cottage was very warm and cosy! Excellent, quiet hideaway
Belvedere Cottage is a gem of a find. In a quiet area, within close proximity to Ventnor, Steephill Cove and the Niton area. It’s only a couple of minutes walk to a local village post office which offer the essentials. Henry was very accommodating due to our issues with Red Funnel services, there were some lovely essentials already stocked in the kitchen - the bread was lovely! Thoroughly recommended, a beautiful hideaway that can serve as a great base from which to explore the island.

Lovely cottage, great stay
We had a lovely stay at Belvedere Cottage and would definitely return again. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, the beds are really comfortable as is the lounge and seating areas and the garden was beautiful. Henry the caretaker was on hand if needed and kindly left us a lovely welcome pack including all the essentials plus more. This cottage is in a lovely part of St Lawrence and comes highly recommended.

Peaceful break!
We had an amazing time at Belvedere cottage! The location is so quiet, 10 min walk from a secluded peddle beach via the Costal path. 45min walk / 10min drive to nearest town. The garden is well landscaped and perfect for the dog and little one! The place was tidy and spotless! All amenities included! Only kitchen ustensile missing is a gratter

Beautiful cottage, very well equipped Lovely large rooms but cosy Staircase would not suit everyone as it is steep and winds round Although dog friendly the garden is not secure This is a semi detached property and had I realised I would not have booked, preferring a detached property Overall a lovely cottage and quiet location
