As a touring base there is a lot to see close by - Grantham is only 4 miles, the National Trust Belton House with its deer park is less than 2 miles away, Stamford, home of the famous Burghley Horse Trials, 35 minutes’ drive, the city of Lincoln, well known for its cathedral and castle is 35 minutes’ drive to the north, and if you fancy a day out at Rutland Water, it is 45 minutes’ drive away. If you stay local there are very good walks and cycle routes from the cottage with a popular village pub serving good food and drink as well as a shop less than 10 minutes’ walk away.
For keen golfers there are 3 golf courses nearby, or if you prefer a pamper session, there is a 4 star hotel 2 miles away with spa days by arrangemennt. You may also like a Thai and Balinese massage, 4 miles. For history enthusiasts there are 8 stately homes and gardens within 10 miles, and Burghley House and Grimsthorpe Castle can be reached in 35 minutes. For a day trip to Britain’s capital city, London’s Kings Cross station is just an hour away by train.
