Here in Askrigg we’re a little bit hidden and that’s just how we like it. Our claim to fame is that our little village starred in the original hit BBC series All Creatures Great and Small which celebrated the work of James Herriot - very fitting given our location is right at the heart of Herriot Country! The new series of All Creatures Great and Small was also filmed in the Yorkshire Dales, some filming took place locally at The Green Dragon Inn at Hawdraw.


There are 3 pubs in the Village serving food at lunch time and evenings
The Crown Inn which is just over the road also do hot take out home cooked meals. The Kings Arms which was featured as The Drovers Pub in the original series of All Creatures Great and Small and has retained many original features . The Middle House Hotel has an cosy bar and a Conservatory restaurant overlooking the Garden . We are fortunate to have a fabulous local deli The Bake Well , they sell all manner of pies quiches salads and home cooked take away meals.
There is a lovely local craft gift shop. A well stocked village shop for groceries etc.

All our rooms have blackout blinds/curtains. The studio Apartment suites have large beds with option for twin bed combination & Luxury organic mattresses. Self catering kitchenette and dining area.The small comfort double room sold on a room only basis has luxury organic mattress topper these are all hand made by skilled craftsmen at Abaca Organic in West Wales using natural materials such as wool, latex and cotton.
We make sure crawling into bed feels just as good as it does at home. All rooms are centrally heated with room-controlled heating, little extras to make sure you remember us as being a comfortable safe and flexible place to stay.
