Villa Blueberry Hills - Large rustic farmhouse with private pool & amazing views

Set in the charming village of Zejtun, Villa Blueberry Hills features traditional Maltese stone and wooden beams with rustic interior. This five bedroom private villa guarantees nothing but memorable days thanks to its beautiful ambience both indoor and outdoor.

The ground floor itself is made up of living/lounge area with a billiard table, bathroom and full equipped kitchen with dining area overlooking the beautiful outdoor pool area. Tranquillity reigns here where one can enjoy and appreciate the Maltese country views both day and night. This area features an outdoor pool, a charcoal BBQ and even a dining table. All five bedrooms are located on the upper floors, all with en-suite and air-conditioned.

Location itself is approx. 15 minutes drive away from the airport and is next to the villages of Marsascala and the fishing village of Marsaxlokk; both offering some of Malta's highly recommended restaurants and beaches.

Free WiFi in all rooms while air conditioning is available through a Pay-Per-Use Coin Machine with €10 daily given free.

We really expected more.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, however the property is not very welcoming. The house sleeps 11, I believe, and about four people could sit in the so-called living room. There wasn’t a cutting board to be found, and we didn’t do very well with the coffee maker either. so I thought the kitchen was not very well set up. One night we decided to dine outside at the table by the pool and there were five of us adults and not one of us could figure out how to open the umbrella, we are pretty sure it’s broken. also, there were many booklets at the property and emails prior to arriving that were just filled with rules. I’m a 61 year old woman and those rules really seemed inappropriate to be hammered on us. I can see them possibly being useful for maybe large parties. But it felt very unwelcoming for our family group. As we always take very good care of the properties we stay in. We have stayed in many properties like this and our group is not very hard to please. Overall, I would say we enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable and each bedroom has its own bathroom, which was very nice.

WORST VRBO EXPERIENCE EVER!!! A TRUE VILLA THIS IS NOT.

As a frequent user of VBRO, I planned our family's Malta vacation last December. Villa Blueberry was advertised as being in Marsaxlokk, a beautiful seaside Fisherman's village. This was to be a special trip for our family which included my wife, our 3 children & my elderly parents. My mother was born, raised and married in Malta. My wife & I were also married there on the same day as my parents in 1995, 33 years after my parents. The trip was to introduce our kids to this special island through the eyes of their grandmother. The owners single-handedly managed to ruin this experience with their deceptive marketing. When we arrived in Malta after our 30-hour trip from Arizona and California, we excitedly headed to Villa Blueberry. When we arrived, we were shocked to discover that the villa was not in Marsaxlokk, but in an industrial town called Zejtun. We immediately told the owners that this was unacceptable and a far cry from the seaside village of Marsaxlokk. I was told that the listing was an error by VRBO and that they had been trying to get it fixed for 6 months. Furthermore, they told me Marsaxlokk was only a 10-minute drive away. I informed that this was unacceptable and demanded our money back which I had wire transferred to them 3 months in advance of our arrival. They refused to do so, so we left the villa for a hotel until we secured another rental property. The very next day, the VRBO listing was changed to list the property in Zejtun rather than Marsaxlokk. Thankfully, I had the foresight to take a screenshot of the listing before they changed it. It is quite apparent why owners listed the property in Marsaxlokk. Just Google images of Marsaxlokk & Zejtun. The villa itself is less than 2,000 sf and the furniture is simply old & dates which they call antiques. Wifi works only within 10 feet of router & in none of the bedrooms. Heat & A/C is coin operated & requires Euros on an as-needed basis. Must turn on water-heater in upstairs middle bedroom 2 hrs prior to wanting hot water. No dryer in villa. The first week was spent locating another property, hiring an attorney, working with Malta's Tourism Authority and Consumer Affairs. In addition to the money the owners will not return, we incurred additional fees for hotel rooms, meals, taxis and that does not include ongoing legal fees. Please note that this family also rents these properties (all in Zejtun): The Chateau, Villa Sky, Villa Valletta & Villa Strawberry. STRONG BUYER BEWARE!

Ottima proprietà, molto grande, con un bel spazio esterno con piscina e tavolo. Casa che accoglie gruppi multi grandi (infatti noi eravamo in 12). Casa con tutto il necessario, check-in effettuato la sera del nostro arrivo, personale molto gentile e ci ha dato anche molte indicazioni sui posti e locali da visitare. Molto consigliata

Property has been amazing. The owners have been most helpful. House and pool is very clean.

I booked this villa for myself and my family. Me and my husband were marrying in Malta during our stay. I cannot thank the owners enough for their support in making sure the property was perfect for our special day. We arrived to a small food package. The house was perfect. We were greated by Josette who was so helpful and offered her help through the whole of our stay. Whenever we may of needed something she would try her best to make sure we had it. Our holiday has been truly magical and Villa Blueberrys has been a big part of that. The villa comes well equipped with essentials. Sunloungersaround the pool are comfortable and clean. Beautiful views for garden and pool area. Lovely to have an ensuite bathroom with every bedroom and large bathroom on ground floor. Pool table kept children and adults occupied inside. Bbq was clean. Bedrooms spacious. Driveway and plenty of parking.

Would do it again

We stayed for 10 days just after New Year and had a marvellous time. Landlord put us up in one of their larger holiday homes due to construction in the booked one. The whole adminsitration part was effortless. Any questions we had upon arrival or in the cause of our stay were answered swiftly. The location is convenient and even a bus stop to Valetta is reached in a reasonable time on foot. Would book again. Thanks for an enjoyable holiday.

Beautiful home. Great kitchen and property. Josette is great!

We loved sitting on the back terrace enjoying the distant views of Valletta. The kitchen is huge with a marble topped table big enough for 10 people. Beautifully furnished with antique furniture. 5 bedrooms (4 on 2nd floor, 1 on 3rd floor), each with its own bathroom plus full bath downstairs. Josette was at our “beck and call”, answering texts, coming over in person, etc. Thank you! Parking is a bit tricky as is driving around Malta if you rent a car! But the buses are very easy to use. One stop is right at the villa to Marsaxlokk. One to Valletta is about 400 meters away. €1.50 per person good for 2 hours with transfers. Tip: Use Google Maps public transportation to check bus schedules and locations!

Large villa but now feeling tired and less than great customer service

Stay: 7 days 27th Oct to 3rd Nov - family of 5 with youngest child 11 The good stuff: --------------------- The villa is large and each room has an ensuite. The pool is large and the outside area is attractive. The kitchen is a great size and fairly well equipped. The living area is nice and the snooker table is a real plus. The general location close to Valletta, Marsascala and Marsaxlokk is ok would suit large group esp those without kids The not so good stuff: ----------------------------- The beds are very hard and mattresses of poor quality. The sheets are equally poor for this kind of property. The pool was dirty and had algae growing around the sides and the water drains all round the pool were broken and cracked in many places which would be dangerous for kids. Despite promises to clean/fix this was not done by the time we left after a week. On arrival a bunch of things were broken - including the air conditioning meter, bulbs, outside lights, kettle. While some of these were addressed reasonably quickly many were still broken when we left. The specific location is on a main road near a narrowing point and you have cars and horns going from as early as 6am. The roof in the top room leaked and the room became quite damp. The owners say they fixed the problem but we did not have further rain to verify. The TV and AV is not great - apparently the TV was new but it is linked via a very noisy SCART cable to a very old satellite box and on many channels the hum was unbearable. There is no DVD player which was a surprise for this type of property. Customer service: ------------------------ While it was easy to report issues and promises were made many things were not resolved. The owner explained in so many words "It is the end of the season, what do you expect" Well for this kind of money I do expect to at least get what we have paid for. Additional things such as Internet are very expensive - and given the problems we had the least we expected was an apology and some small concession such as the £70 for Internet to not be charged - but sadly neither were forthcoming. Conclusions: ----------------- I cannot recommend this property for families - better for large party type groups of younger people. Maybe customer service norms are different in Malta - it was our first time there - but the owners did not provide what we have experienced in Greece and France.

We enjoyed our month at Blueberry Hills vey much. Josette and Chris are perfect hosts!

The house is perfect for a family as the pool is really big and very inviting! As the building is made of very thick honey-coloured limestone the rooms remain cool even on the hot days. Great kitchen. We only went out for dinner 3 times! We highly recommend it! Thanks Chris and Josette!

Very Satisfied

Very beautiful house with great pool area overlooking the countryside. We rented a car so that we could go around the island very easily. We had no problems even though we were travelling with two small kids and my in-laws. Would definitely stay there again!

Magic

We loved the pictures of this house on Homeaway but the pictures do not do it enough credit. Although we arrived late at night it was no problem for the owners, they waited for us and greeted us with a smile. The house is very beautiful and clean and the pool area is very big with beautiful views. Would surely recommend it!

Perfect!

A beautiful property in quiet surroundings close to Marsaxlokk and Marsascala. There were 11 family members and we had a lovely week - wish it could have been longer! We celebrated Father's Day and two birthdays in our group during the week. Being half Maltese, we had plenty of family to meet up with - my husband and I go to Malta regularly and have stayed in many other self catering properties and Blueberry Hills is up there with the best. Loved the swimming pool. Chris and Josette were both very helpful hosts and we'd definitely stay again - although probably in one of their smaller properties as the 11 strong gang was a 'once in a blue moon' occasion.

Blissful

This villa is exactly as was described in Homeaway. We arrived very late at night but the owners waited for us patiently and also prepared a food pack for our arrival. The garden, pool and location are the best assets of this haven. We spent many memorable breakfasts and sunsets by the pool. Thanks to the owners who always helped us in our ten day stay.

My Second Home

This is our second stay at Villa Blueberry. It is still warm, clean and comfortable. We could see the upgrades from our last visit, new sofa, new T.V. new outdoor furniture but same feeling of our second home in Malta. See you soon Chris and thanks for all your help.

Great Villa and Great Owners

I booked the villa for a family reunion. I booked after I visited Homeaway and was hooked by the pictures. All the descriptions are accurate and the photos in the website represent the villa accurately. Once we checked in the owners showed us a winery from where we could buy locally produced wines. We also helped the gardener to pick up olives from the olive trees as our stay coincided with the oil pressing season. We really enjoyed our visit to the oil cold press where we tested the freshly pressed olive oil. Well done Chris and Josette. Will recommend to all my acquaintances.

Magic at Blueberry

This is the second time I visited Malta. The first time we booked a hotel in Sliema. My wife decided that for our return we book a villa. We chose Villa Blueberry Hills as I liked the rustic look of the villa. The pictures do not represent the magical atmosphere in the villa and we really enjoyed each and every minute by the pool. We were only two and our grandchild so the villa was too big for us but we would return for sure in the coming years. The owner also offered us a discount if we return. Thanks for the helpful owners which made our stay a special one.

Lovely stay at Villa Blueberry

Blueberry is really an enchanting place, charming and ideally located between Zejtun, Marsascala and Marsaxlokk the fishing village. It is ideal for holidays and it’s the perfect place to enjoy Malta and at the same time enjoying the Maltese countryside. I would definitely recommend to large groups.

A Country Gem

The villa is located between Marsaxlokk and Marsascala, both villages attract tourists. The villa has a large patio, 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen/living area. It has also a games room for the boys. The villa is very well maintained and really kept clean. The pool is always very clean and it was cleaned twice a week. The air conditioning is not included in the price but in September we rarely used it. The owner offered WiFi at half price. My friend got his guitar to Malta and we really enjoyed singing along with Beatles songs every evening obviously drinking the local red wine we bought from the nearby winery. I recommend this villa as it is really a home away from home.

A three day break of pure relax

We booked Villa Blueberry for a 3 day weekend break. As soon as we arrived at the villa we instantly fell in love with it. Nice warm interiors and a fabulous pool area. We simply decided to enjoy the nice weather and the pool. No need to go round – the villa itself is a perfect place to relax. Will be back for more.

Highly Recommended

We were a group of sixteen celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday. We had to have two villas, Villa Blueberry and Villa Strawberry. The villa has all the amenities and it is very well kept. We spent 15 nights and the owners were always available to help us. The kitchen is very well equipped and the strong point of the villa is the pool area with the views and garden. Shopping in the area is quite easy as there are supermarkets just up the road. There is also a bus stop in front of the villa. My children hired bicycles from a nearby store and they really explored the southern coast of the island. The pool was always clear and the cleaner left the villa spotless when she cleaned the villa after the first week. I recommend this villa for groups of ten as the price is really cheap.

Great Holiday

Villa Blueberry was really better than advertised. Our host Josephine was really helpful. The villa really exceeded our expectations and was ideal for our group of eight persons. I would like to suggest a walk to Marsaxlokk, the fishing village, to enjoy the Maltese countryside and taste locally produced wine in a nearby winery.

Spectacular

We arrived at Blueberry Hills in the afternoon. The villa looked like an old medieval castle. As we were given a tour of the villa by the owner we realized it is enormous, having six bathrooms. The pool area is spectacular and every evening we enjoyed having barbeques and watching fireworks in nearby villages. We also enjoyed the large garden where our kids used to spend the evenings playing. We also had fresh vegetables from the garden. The bedrooms were all comfortable but the best one was the topmost bedroom having a queen sized bed and fantastic views. The only disadvantage was that we had to pay for the air conditioning which eventually turned out to be really cheap.

Highly Recommendable

We loved how traditional and highly finished this villa is. You can really get a taste of Malta especially since it is situated in a quiet area with country views and the beach nearby. Our children loved the games room and my husband and I had plenty of time to relax by the pool which is quite large. The barbeque area proved to be our daily evening activity although for lunch we opted to try a variety of close by restaurants. We are satisfied with the efficiency of the owners. We recommend this villa and will surely return again

Comfortable, stylish and relaxing

I stayed in this villa with my boyfriend and another couple and we really had a positive experience. It was nice to stay in a quiet area where all your needs are met due to nearby mini markets, bars and restaurants. We would really like to comment about the spectacular country views that this villa offers whilst having the beach close by as well. The pool / bbq area was great and the kitchen / dining room well appointed. The owner was quite helpful in showing us around. The comfortable beds, number of bathroom and clean place made it even better for us. We will gladly return.
