The Chateau des Monts is a 19h century castle but rebuilt on a previous 18th century castle from the Louis the XV. Purchased and renovated by the Barond Henri Alexandre Gerard in 1854 to be his Normandy Residency. The Chateau des Monts is surrounded by a nice 25 acres garden. Very near by Bayeux, D-Days landing sites and many other Normandy sites.

Around: the D-Day landing beach of Omaha, the US Cemetery, The small town of Bayeux, 3 kilometers away, preserved during the war, has preserved its historical value with its 12th century cathedral, half-timbered houses, numerous mansions dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The charm of its market on Saturday morning makes it a curiosity for the whole region. A nice and very interesting museum of art and history has been completely renovated recently are just 6 miles away.
Other richly historical towns and cities such as Mont St Michel (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Deauville and Honfleur, the Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey, The Chausey Islands are particularly notable for their tidal range. The Bay of Veys is a paradise for birds, next to the Cotentin marshes with beautiful landscapes, are easy for a day trip from the castle.
