The many museums trace Ironbridge’s history and the ’Iron Bridge’ itself is a reminder of its importance. For those wishing to explore beyond the beauty of Ironbridge, you can step outside the gorge and get a taste of modern hubs to medieval market towns including Bridgnorth, a picturesque historic town split in two but connected by a unique Victorian cliff railway which still runs today. Medieval Much Wenlock and Newport with its bustling high street with interesting independent shops and plenty of places to eat and drink is well worth a visit. Telford is home to family attractions including Telford Town Park and Wonderland, restaurants and the town centre. Wellington, whose market is one of the oldest in the country, is also worth a visit. Shropshire has an array of outdoor activities on offer from kayaking and canoeing to cycling, walking, gliding, golf, fishing and horse racing.
