This cabin is adorably cute and very quaint. We loved our stay here. Most people like vacationing in mountain homes but we prefer being at river level, and the Rocky Broad is one of our favorite rivers. They did a great job renovating this cabin. The couch is SUPER comfy, and so is the bedroom; however, the bed is just a very small full-size bed, so it will fit only one person or two small people. We absolutely love the front porch and the rocking chairs, the firepit, the swing and the little bridge to the swing. We read a prior review that mentioned "dog smell" but we did not smell pet odor at all; if anything, it was just the age of the cabin because the cabin is obviously old. The only reason we don't give it 5 stars is because of the following:
1) there is NO door to the bedroom; we had to hang a blanket over it. We recommend adding bi-fold doors to at least close it off and give some privacy.
2) the bathroom door does not shut complete nor does it lock and thus because of that and there being no bedroom door, there is minimal privacy
3) the front door's bolt does NOT fit into the groove and thus does not lock, although there is the keypad lock. However, we would've preferred to have been able to also bolt the lock, and we had to scoot the antiquated desk and chair in front of the door just for peace of mind (from bears and people!).
4) they do mention the wifi is "spotty' but we could not stay connected to wifi on our smart phones, and we could only stayed connected to it on our laptop at the kitchen table. We did not find a router, cable modem nor extender in the cabin, so if one was missing from the cabin, if they were to add an extender in the cabin, that would help with the wifi connectivity.
Our cabin favorites:
1) the view of the Rocky Broad!!
2) the porch and rocking chairs!
3) the sparkly star light on the porch!
4) the comfiness of the bed and couch
5) it's in Bat Cave, NC and who would not want to lodge in a town called Bat Cave!!
6) the cleanliness of the cabin
7) the cuteness of the cabin decor
8) the age of the cabin (wish there was something posted inside that talked about the history of the cabin)
9) the price!
10) the location! Right next to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and just 20 minutes from Hendersonville and 30 minutes from Dupont State Forest
Overall, a GREAT place to stay
