This fantastic medieval city, with the minster standing proud in the centre, has something for all age groups. Nearby Dalby Forest is a tranquil haven to explore the miles of woodland trails on foot or by bike. There is also a zip wire trail for the more adventurous. The Yorkshire Coast is just a short drive away and the cottage is a great base for visiting the resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby as well as the smaller villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes or the waterfall at the Hayburn Wyke cove. Just 3 miles away, Pickering is a traditional market town with a local market held every Monday which is very popular with both the locals and tourists alike. There are plenty of restaurants, pubs and cafés plus some interesting independent shops. Pickering is home to the North York Moors steam railway. Here you can catch a steam train for an amazing journey across the North York Moors National Park to the town of Whitby.
