The cottage was rebuilt in 2023, nestled high on a hill, the house boasts a breathtaking view of the lake and the surrounding mountains and provides an excellent vantage point to witness the mesmerizing northern lights (aurora). We recommend a 4x4 car, especially during winter, there is the option to park in the driveway and walk up to the house.

The ground floor comprises three bedrooms, with two featuring queen-sized beds, and the third room offering a sofa bed that can be transformed into a comfortable sleeping space. Additionally, on this level, you'll discover a full bathroom, a convenient laundry room, and a TV room where the sofa can be converted into a bed for added flexibility.

Moving up to the first floor, you'll encounter a well-appointed kitchen equipped with high-quality, brand-new appliances. This level also boasts a full bathroom, a spacious dining room, and a cozy living room complete with a fireplace to keep you warm and snug during the winter months.

On the top floor, you'll find a room featuring a queen-sized bed and a sofa bed for added sleeping arrangements. Our hot tub, accommodating up to 12 people, offers the perfect spot to unwind while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views that surround you.

The cottage is comfortably heated year-round using natural geothermal water and under floor heating, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Our hot tub is also heated with this natural geothermal water, providing a delightful experience for our guests, whether it's summer or winter.

If you have any specific requests or need assistance to enhance your stay, please don't hesitate to ask, and I'll do my best to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. Smoking is not permitted inside the house.

This means you don't have to wait outside in the cold for the Northern Lights to make their appearance. Instead, you can fully enjoy your vacation, and when the Northern Lights show up, the app on your phone will notify you with a simple, accurate alert. You'll never miss this breathtaking natural phenomenon.

gemütliches Ferienhaus mit herrlichem Seeblick

wir waren im Juli diesen Jahres mit einem befreundetetn Ehepaar für 6 Tage Gäste in diesem Haus und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Whirlpool ist herrlich zum entspannen. Die neuen Eigentümer sind sehr bemüht, bei Problemen eine Lösung zu finden, auch der Checkin/ Out haben ganz problemlos funktioniert. Einziges Manko ist die wirklich sehr steile Zufahrt zum Haus, die ist ohne 4x4 nicht machbar.

1 Woch in Hrafn’s Haus

Wir haben eine Woche in Hrafns Haus im März 2020 sehr genossen. Wir waren zu viert und es war der perfekte Ausgangspunkt für die Sehrnswürdigkeiten der „Golden Route“. Die Umgebung ist idyllisch, wunderschön und ruhig! Das Haus lässt keine Wünsche offen. Sauber, großzügig und komfortabel und Hrafns Betreuung war perfekt. Thanks a lot! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Toller Ausgangspunkt für den Süden Islands

Vorab: ein wunderbares Ferienhaus für einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt im Süden Islands. Es ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Insbesondere den Hot Tube haben wir oft nach langen Ausflugstagen genossen. Einmal haben wir auch das Glück gehabt, Nordlichter zu sehen. Wahnsinn. Ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in den Süden: Thingvellir, Strokkur, Gullfoss, Vik, Reykjavik... alles relativ schnell erreichbar. Wir haben die Zeit sehr genossen. Danke Hrafn!!!

perfekt location

We had a perfect week in this lovely house. It has a beautiful view, the kitchen is very good equipped und the hot tube was the highlight in the evening. The way up the hill is very steep so you should have a 4 wheel drive to go up to the house ( we managed it by driving backwards with the frontwheel drive) . The stairs in the house are steep so you should not have problems with walking. Hrafn was very nice and uncomplicated. It was no problem to get the key although we arrived after midnight. We really can recommend this location.

Tolles Haus in einer wunderschönen Umgebung!

Wir 4 Bayern verbrachten einen wunderschönen Urlaub in einem tollen Land, in einem super Haus. Die Schlüsselübergabe verlief trotzt später Ankunft (Landung um 0.30 Uhr) reibungslos. Alles, was man für einen erholsamen Urlaub brauchte, war vorhanden. Auf der Terasse mit herrlichen Ausblick bestaunten wir bereits am 1. Tag Nordlichter. Im hauseigenen Hot Pot konnten wir uns abends, nach erlebnisreichen Tagen, prima entspannen. Das Haus liegt zentral, so dass alle Sehenswürdigkeiten in kurzer Entfernung erreichbar sind. Island - Land - Leute - Cottage - einfach toll!!!

Lovely house, lovely landlords

We stayed as a family of six people in the house (parents, 4 children/teenagers) and we loved every second of it. Hrafn and Thorunn are really great hosts, made extra efforts to give us the keys in the middle of the night in Reykjavik, as we arrived rather late, supplied us with food for the first day and were always online or on the phone to answer any upcoming question. In the end they even printed our boarding passes for us. The house is well equipped (dishwasher, floor heating, hot pot, very comfortable beds and free wifi) and has a stunning location. You can watch the whole evening (at least in summer) until half past 12 how the sun sets over the mountains and the lake. Besides its scenic location, its also well located to go and see the main sights of southern Iceland(Geysir, Gulfoss, Thingvellir, Skogafoss, Seljalandsfoss and Reykjavik as well). We would as well recommento go riding at Eldhestar, a 30min drive from the house. They have great horses and friendly guides. We would really recommend the house to everyone who wants a comfortable and scenic home to explore the south of Iceland.

Wonderful hideaway in winter wonnderland

We chose this cabin for the cosy part of our winter trip to Iceland. We had the perfect time: aurora borealis dancing over the sky, while we were soaking in the hot pot, lake and mountains covered in snow. The house is so nicely designed, so cosy and lovely. I enjoyed my morning coffee(s) in front of the fire place, reading, while the rest of the family was still sleeping. Check- in and -out is super easy, Natalia, the local cabin manager, is very responsive and helpful, if you don't find or understand something immediately. The house is equipped with everything you might need and the manual gives you all the instructions you need. So: perfect place for us, thanks for having us!

Great Location

The property is in a great location. My husband, 17 year old daughter, Aunt, Uncle and I enjoyed using the house as a home base. The aurora camera was one of the main reasons we booked the house but we never could get a response on how to use it, if it was even there. There is a broken board on the back deck so be careful when stepping out there. If my older Aunt had stepped on it first she would have fallen. Luckily my husband found it and warned everyone. There is a gate to access the property. This wasn't mentioned in the check-in information sent to us. Once we walked up the hill to the house and got in we found the clicker for the gate. There is construction taking place next door. They are as quiet as they can be but it can get loud. The house also shares a driveway with the house under construction. The cold tub was empty. The dryer took hours to dry clothes. Take pictures of everything when you first get there and right before you leave. The owner has accused us of ruining his cooktop. We explained that we used it once then decided to eat out the rest of the meals because the cooktop wouldn't stay on for us yet he has continued to accuse us of ruining it, demanding over $2700 to replace the cook top and repeatedly calling me a liar when I try to explain my side. The cooktop was fine when we left. I have never in my life dealt with such a rude vrbo owner. VRBO deemed the texts threatening and has suspended contact between me and the owner while its investigated.

Great location... good luck if something goes wrong

The good: great location. The bad: Gated community, but you have to hike to the house "high on the hill" to get a clicker that opens the gate. Driveway is so steep, workers (next door) were getting stuck in the driveway with their 2WD vehicles. The 2 BR in the loft is one room with a queen bed and a sleeper sofa. We chose a lower level bedroom because there is no bathroom in the loft (along with a door that said "Owners - Do not open Motion Cameras") - spiral staircases are cool but not safe my wife and I tripped several times. The 3 BR on the lower level are so small, the king size bed frame (with a queen size mattress) leaves 8 inches to each wall. We moved the bed away from the wall so my wife and I could shuffle around each side, then we were not able to close the door. No closets (that aren't already marked "Owner's Do Not Open"), no room for drawers or nightstands. One closet for your use in the entire house - small entry closet. Comforters one size too small (they only put linens on the bed they want you to use... in the loft... next to the "Motion Cameras" door. There is a downstairs light switch that trips a breaker that removes all power from the lower level. The washer and dryer would not turn on. Grill does not have a handle. No pantry. There is no local property manager. Ian is the owner - he is not local, he had to ask me what time it was at the house. Took 38 hours for Ian to reply to the dead dryer issue - no apology, but he did wish me a safe trip home.

Family Vacation

This was a *wonderful* home to stay in for our time in Iceland. It was a hub for lots of great day trips, but there was plenty to do in the house as well -- lots of great games, a beautiful kitchen to cook and eat in, and views galore. We didn't have time to use the hot tub, but I imagine that would also have been delightful!

Excellent Choice

This was a superb rental. It work for anyone wanting to explore the golden circle, the south shore such as Vik, and even Reykjavik which is an hour away. The rental was clean. The house was functionally designed, and furnished in an Icelandic look. The kitchen was supplied with all necessary gadgets. The area was safe. The laundry room was convenient. The view of the lake was amazing. We frequently used the outdoor hot tub, overlooking the lake. Contact with the host was helpful. In hindsight, this rental was a great choice for us to have made and is highly recommended to future travelers.

Stunning views, comfortable house, need a 4x4!

This house is new, stylish, and clean with a well stocked kitchen and stunning views. We came with 4 adults and 5 children, ages 10-17 and there were beds for all and plenty of space in the main living area for everyone to hang out comfortably. The manager is local, friendly and very responsive. There are two bathrooms, one on the lower floor where there are 3 bedrooms and a pull out couch, and one full bath by the front entrance on the main floor. There is a nice sized bedroom at the top which slept 3 comfortably and left space for luggage. That bedroom has no en-suite bath. The house is on a hill with expansive views of the lake. Getting up the steep gravel driveway proved challenging for us with our normal (non-4x4) rental cars, even in ideal weather. The listing does mention this and it should be taken seriously. If you have an appropriate vehicle, I would highly recommend this house!

Fantastic rental near Thingvellir National Park

Our family of 4 had a pleasant stay in late May. The property allowed us to prepare meals throughout our trip and relax in the hot tub after a long day of excursions. Dining at restaurants in Iceland is expensive! We were centrally located to almost all of our activities. Would highly recommend.

Slice of heaven perched on a hilltop.

Perfect location for our first trip to Iceland for our exploration of Southern Iceland. Honestly cannot think of a thing that we needed that wasn't provided. If I had a wish list, it would have been nice to have an extra bathroom but we made it work just fine. I would highly recommend.

Great Location!

Stunning lake and mountain views. Great location along the Golden Circle and only 50 min or so from Reykjavik. Remote yet close to Selfoss with grocery, shopping and restaurants. House was very well built. We had truly terrible weather during our stay and this house made us feel very safe from the strong winds and rain. Owner was readily accessible by text , phone or email and met all our needs. Highly recommend to those seeking remote lodging without the high price remote hotel pricing. Thank you Hfran!
