Lochead Cottage, as the name suggests, is situated looking out from the head of the loch, and enjoys fantastic views from all rooms. A traditional, stone built cottage, it retains some of its original features (such as the open fire and thick stone walls), whilst enjoying modern touches.
It sits in a large wrap-around garden which is enclosed and perfect for your four-legged friend. There is ample parking for multiple cars, and it is perfectly located for those who enjoy fishing, with the Lochead Burn right on the doorstep (permit required).
Downstairs there is a spacious dining kitchen, comfortable living room with open fire, shower room, and large double bedroom.
Up the (slightly steep) stairs, you'll find two twin bedrooms, and a bathroom (bath). Upstairs has just been newly insulated and plastered, so it is nice and cosy whatever the weather.
Ellary is a private estate, situated near Lochgilphead, Argyll - on Scotland's beautiful West Coast. As a guest on the estate, you have unrestricted access to the thousands of acres, just waiting to be explored. There are so many walks right from the doorstep (perfect for your four-legged friend), and if you pop up to the office, we can point you in the direction of our favourite sandy beaches and lookout points.
Ellary is ideal for you if you are looking to escape, and enjoy some time out - with 13 properties spread over 4 miles, there are very few people around.
Fishing is available to those who want - fishing off the rocks for mackerel is free, and we can issue permits for the Lochead Burn and hill lochs, to catch sea trout & brown trout - permits are £25 per rod, per week.
We are well located for bird watching and wildlife spotting, with over 80 species of birds (including golden & sea eagles), as well as otters, seals, deer, red squirrels, pine martins, badgers - the list goes on!
Photographers will enjoy the landscape the West Coast of Scotland is famous for, and can enjoy the frequent sunrises and sunsets that turn the sky pink. Drone enthusiasts will also find some great scenery to photograph, with no neighbours for miles.
There is a small practice golf course on the estate, which you are most welcome to use free of charge (we can even lend you a set of clubs), and there is also a private harbour which you are welcome to make use of if you wish to bring a boat with you. You will find lots of suitable places for launching kayaks around the estate (and the otters might even join you for a paddle if you're lucky!).
