Calmest of the Cylclades we visited and largest apartment we stayed in
We very much enjoyed our stay at George's apartment off of Livadia Beach! We visited Mykonos, Paros and Santorini this trip and Paros was by far the most low-key and relaxing. Mykonos and Santorini spike high on nightlife and people watching, but if you want to take things a bit slower and enjoy the simpler elements of the Cylcades then Paros is a great choice. The apartment is a good size, with room for many people. Our 10 year-old twins loved the bunk-beds, while our older daughter had a room to herself, which she was clearly happy about. The unit is clean and very practical, and George is a wonderful owner/host. He picks you up about a 5 minute walk from the port in his own van (no charge for the transfers) and then it's a very short drive (a few minutes) to the house. He lives at the same property so it's easy to get him if you need anything. George manages a good number of units so he's always on the move - something he will tell you a lot about. George was always willing to go the extra mile, including making a last minute run to the port right before we left as my daughter had left something in his van. Thanks again George!
A few things to note. First, the apartment is a bit removed from things, which is good in some ways and less in others. It's about 5 minutes to walk the few blocks to the beach, about another 5 minutes down the main road from the beach to a pretty nice grocery store, about another 5 minutes to the port, and then another 5 minutes into the center of the older part of town. So things are pretty close, but be aware you will be doing some walking. If you want to explore the island you might want to rent a car or talk to George about hiring a van (or you can take public buses). The best part about its location is that it is quiet! There's no music at all hours like Myknonos and you can enjoy the peace of a quiet neighborhood (and it really is in a local/less touristy neighborhood).
The beach right at the end of the road is simple but nice, and the charges for beach chairs is much lower than the more "in" islands. The food, as with all of Greece, we found to be amazing, and George will be happy to give recommendations. A walk down the main road along the beach will take you past tons of cafes/bars/restaurants, and then the old town and it's little streets are quaint and cute to walk around.
We didn't do much exploring of the island as we were only there a few days.
We recommend George and his apartment on Paros!
