I've been wanting to visit Arches my whole life. When I began researching motels and lodging near Moab, I started to realize that making this trip may be more expensive than I had thought. When I saw the Ballard Campground option, and the carriage fifth wheel for such a reasonable price, I booked it immediately! I stayed six nights, and went in and out of Arches and Canyonlands all week long, just absolutely wonderful! The campground is convenient, right off of the interstate, and there is a gas station and 7-Eleven right there. I had hoped to travel to the west side of Canyonlands to Horseshoe Canyon, and hike out to see the Great Gallery, but time and money would not allow. However, Dave at the Ballard Campground gave me a map that led me just a few miles North into Sego Canyon, where there are several fascinating examples of ancient Indian art, I spent at least 2 hours out there! So, thank you for that Dave! I just returned home to Florida, and I am longing to come back to Utah! I would certainly stay at the Ballard RV campground again, and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a less expensive yet equally comfortable way to stay near Moab and the National Parks. My dream vacation was everything I had hoped it would be, and having a clean comfortable quiet camper of my own to come back to at the end of a long day of hiking was perfect!
