Location: While the apartment itself is quite nice, it’s the location that really sells this place. It is truly in the shadow of the Acropolis; I can’t imagine there’s a place you can stay that’s any closer. It’s only a couple blocks downhill to the ticket booth, so if someone wanted to stroll down early and pick up tickets before the lines get crazy, it would be super easy.
Quiet: The apartment is wedged between two very calm pedestrian streets. We had no traffic noise and no bother by large, noisy groups partying into the night. There is a restaurant next door which had live traditional music every night. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the evening with a glass of wine hearing them in the background. They could be heard inside the apartment, but just barely, and the music ends at midnight.
Comfortable: Queen bed in bedroom was by far the most comfortable we slept on during our month in Europe. The sleeper sofa was probably what you could expect. Our 12-year old was ok with it, but…an adult? Two A/C units were great at keeping the place a comfy temperature.
Squeaky clean: This place appears brand new.
The Patio: Suite 1 has use of the entire upper floor, including the large L-shaped patio shown in the photos. There were no guests staying in the lower suites while we were there, so I assume the upper patio is for Suite 1’s private use.
A few (minor) cons: There weren’t many amenities / supplies left in the apartment for the renters. We were left with 1 roll of toilet paper for 3 people for 3 days. No paper towels, napkins. There was no coffee provided; it would have been nice to have at least a few coffee capsules for the first day. There were no instructions left for using the single-cup coffee maker or the washer-dryer. We figured it all out, but getting the right size of coffee capsules, how to start the coffee maker, and how to use the washer-dryer were all guessing games. By the way, the washing machine also has a dry cycle option. However, even the longest dry cycle did not completely dry the clothes (not even close). Be prepared to hang items out.
Transportation — Acropoli subway station is about a 5-minute walk downhill from apartment. We arrived by taxi and were dropped off within 20-feet of the property. However, on pickup, the taxi could not reach the location because of long lines in front of the Acropolis entrance. Be prepared to walk to a convenient pickup point.
Tip: Ipanema Bakery for breakfast items.
