The cottage was warm, comfortable and beautifully siutated. It is quite remote and mobile 4g works only on some phones. not on others.
The place was very clean, beautiful new bathroom and well equipped kitchen. (Except for good sharp knives, and basic washing up cloths, dishwasher tablets and washing powder, which were all sorely lacking). The fire alarm is very sensitive and goes off if the bathroom door is opened after a shower or the kitchen when something is roasting in the oven. Can be avoided if windows are opened and the rooms aired, but when it was pouring outside this was impossible and the alarm became quite frustrating,
Our major problem was that the windows in the downstairs are all Velox, too high to open without standing on a chair and even then only the taller memeber of our party could open and close the windows in the bedroom and kitchen. no pole was provided. This also meant that in rain these rooms could not be ventalated, and no midge nets so windows had to be shut in the evening too.
Comminication with the property owner was good in that they answered the phone number provided and were helpful and efficient in solving our probelms on arrival (the window in the downstairs bedroom had been left open an the carpet and one bed were sodden). However, there was no follow up to check up on the issue (which impacted on our stay significatly). Instructions for the house and the utilities were also insufficient, (We discovered the manual for the washing macjine by chance).
We enjoyed our stay nevertheless, the house is comfortable an warm, but needs attention to detail such as the pole for the velow windows, and vis a vis the kitchen equipment, and in general more detailed instructions were needed (eg the bathroom heater we could not turn off which in hot weather would have been very unpleasant). The surrounds are very beautiful with easy access to cycling, walking, swimming and the village is three miles down the road with a post offfice ad well stocked supermarket,
