Served our needs perfectly

Worked out very well for us! Great area and house is as described. There have obviously been mice in the downstairs living room area but it is a fishing cabin so no big deal for us. The hot tub was great for some back pain relief! Thanks for the stay!

Perfect Place for Quality Time Connecting!

My boyfriend and I came down here to celebrate my birthday and our two year anniversary. This cottage was the perfect place for a weekend of quality time! We loved having the full kitchen and grill, as we typically prefer to cook over eating out. The hot tub was perfect for the two of us, we saw the reviews saying they wished it was more private so we just brought our small canopy! Our first morning there I walked downhill from the cottage to the docks and was able to actually meet Mark as he was setting off on a pontoon. Emma was incredibly friendly and helpful as well, and even let us meet their gorgeous dog! We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to truly relax and spend some uninterrupted time with eachother. They have a couple other properties nearby as well! We will certainly be back!

Disappointing

The cabin is very run down. The curtain rod in the kitchen was broken, the window in the bunk room was slid down and open with no screen and we could not close it. We stuffed a towel in the opening to keep bugs out. The air conditioner in that room was dirty and smelled when turned on. The downstairs smelled very musty and the carpets were filthy. The walls were dirty and desperately need a coat of paint. All in all, this poor little cabin needs an update and a good cleaning. The outside deck needed stained. There were outdoor lights that we could not figure out how to turn on. It would be nice to have some directions regarding the tv remote, the hot tub, and the lights. The refrigerator had some spills that I wiped up. All in all, for the price we paid it was very disappointing. I was glad to leave and get home.

Perfect little getaway!

The cottage was everything we could have asked for and more! We spent mornings drinking coffee and making breakfast in the (very well supplied) kitchen, afternoons and evenings exploring the surrounding areas, and nights were spent in the hot tub and around a campfire making s’mores. The sleeping accommodations were comfortable, and we utilized the sunroom more than any other part of the interior! Mark & Emma were so friendly when we met them while renting our pontoon. Can’t recommend this property or it’s owners enough!

The property was exactly what we wanted and what was advertised! We had a great time along bigger than it looks when you pull up. It had everything we needed. Mark an Emma were great hosts. Took care of everything. We needed total swear to buy the live Bait and even Had a boat for us to rent. It was a great time start to finish. Would definitely go back.

Cute and quiet lake cottage

We had a great little getaway at this lakeside cottage. Walk down to the lake and docks right from the backyard, porch overlooking the woods/lake, and a comfortable sunroom to play games or watch a movie. Host was very friendly and helpful - Thank you!

Nice retreat

Very nice stay away from it all during our college visit to OU. Only complaint was the temperature of the cabin. It was a little cold during our stay. Otherwise loved the hot tub and the room in lower level to watch movies! Also fun hike down the hill to the lake but may be difficult for those with bad knees etc

We arrived late and did not have any issues getting checked in. The management team's daily check with us insured a great stay. The properties have plenty of distance between them to insure privacy and a great experience.

Great Getaway

The dock house was awesome. Super cozy, fire place in the sun room, plenty of games, hot tub-everything was great. Watching the sunrise through the woods over the lake with some coffee was indescribable. I would greatly consider coming in the summer time as well and be able to do some fishing! Amazing get away

My friends and I rented this property for New Year’s Eve to go hiking in the area and enjoy the out doors and hot tub! It was a very fun house, the fire places kept the rooms very warm! The hot tub was warm but took a long time to heat back up when it needed refilled half way through the stay. The house is very close to the lake and a very nice 1.5 mile trail head. Emma and Mark were so kind and very willing to answer questions! And their home made hot sauce was so good!

Very Relaxing Weekend

This was a great stay with fantastic hosts! The last mile into the cabin can be a little tricky to navigate, especially at night. Just trust the directions and you'll be fine. We had trouble connecting to the wifi, but called Mark and Emma and they knew exactly what to do. We lost power due to the huge storms (12/11/21) but the gas fireplace kept us safe and warm! Mark and Emma were kind enough to give us a few extra hours to check out on Sun so we could enjoy the beautiful weather! The cabin is very comfortable, the hot tub is awesome and well maintained. The kitchen has everything you'd need for a weekend getaway or a week-long family vacation. They even had complimentary coffee and teas available! There's also a mini-fridge on the lower level which was very convenient for patio time! We went for a short walk down the hill on the backside of the house and that took us to the docks (and also hiking trails). The walk back up wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it would be, so don't let it scare you! We had a wonderful time staying here and Mark and Emma couldn't have been nicer or more responsive. We're looking forward to staying again!

Quick getaway to nature and OU

Mark and Emma made it easy to find this hideaway. My 13 yr old son and I wish we had more time to enjoy the scenery and fishing. We appreciated Mark sharing his expertise about the fishing and easily set us up with a canoe. We felt tucked away in the woods but close enough to visit daughter at OU. Lots of nostalgia and games on the property plus hottub made our weekend away even more restful.

We liked the place the only problem was the very bad musty mold smell in the one bedroom we couldn’t sleep in there or use that part of the place We actually had to leave early because of the smell. The Burr Oak region is a hidden gem. Not too far from shopping, and close enough to Ohio University to commute on a daily basis, this cottage was calling to us. We purchased it in 2013 and have since totally renovated it from floor to ceiling. Mark took elements from the log cabin he grew up in and incorporated into the renovation.
