Das The Old School wurde 1847 erbaut und ist ein wunderschönes 4-Schlafzimmer-Landhaus im Dorf Icklesham, das 2011 vollständig renoviert wurde. Ein beeindruckendes, hochwertiges Interieur-Haus (in der September-Ausgabe 2012 des Ideal Homes Magazine vorgestellt), das alles bietet, was Sie für einen fantastischen Urlaub benötigen. Es bietet eine entspannende Umgebung zum Entspannen, die besonders für Familien mit Kindern geeignet ist. Draußen gibt es einen schönen, vollständig geschlossenen Garten mit Rasen, ein Sommerhaus, eine eigene Bar und eine große Terrasse. Das Hotel liegt in der schönen ländlichen Umgebung des Brede-Tals, zwischen den historischen Städten Rye und Hasting. Camber Beach und Battle sind von hier aus leicht zu erreichen. In der Old School können Sie sowohl das Landleben als auch das Küstenleben genießen. In der Umgebung gibt es für Jung und Alt viel zu tun - Wandern, Golfen, Radfahren, Wassersport, Kitesurfen, Einkaufen, gutes Essen, historische Schlösser, Kunstgalerien oder öffentliche Gärten, um nur einige zu nennen.

NYE with friends

NYE with friends! We booked this property as it had large communal spaces for entertaining over the new year period with friends and was within driving distance of attractions such as Rye, Camber Sands and Hastings. There was the bonus of a pub within a few feet that we had dinner at on the first night. The property is lovely and has great space to socialise in along with a big fireplace that we used each day. The property is well equipped with everything we needed. This is a charming old property in a small village that has been converted, so there is as you would expect some things that could do with some TLC and although we had a couple of unforeseen issues, Lucy was a brilliant host and did her upmost to resolve these super quickly.

Fantastic stay!

I booked this house for my Dad's 60th birthday. We wanted a base which was near places like Hastings & Rye, the location was perfect. Really close to lots of fun things to do and the house was exactly how it looked in the pictures, probably better! It had everything we needed and really was a home from home. Lucy has been super helpful in the process of booking the house and at the time of our stay. We will definitely be back!

Family get together

The design of the house was very light and spacious. We loved the communal areas which were perfect for our family get together of seven adults and four children under seven. The kitchen, dining, sitting area and the garden all had plenty of seating and games for adults and children. The ‘bar’ in the garden wasn’t really clean and tidy but we didn’t need to use it. Easy drives to the beaches and Rye and a beautiful walk from the house to see Standing Stones, a windmill and farm and woodland made this a great location.

brillaint stay for group or friend

Our entire stay was brilliant! the house is beautiful and the garden is well kept and a lovely place to chill out. approx 20 min drive to camber sands beach, and inbetween hastings and rye towns. Lucy was amazing and put up birthday banners and organised cake and prosecco for the group! we even had an extra person stay and she organised a blow up mattress for them which was lovely. would defiantly recommend this property for a group get away!

OLD SCHOOL BREAK

First the Positives ...A cavernous space in the main rooms gave the children plenty of space to run around in . The Kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need for your stay . We liked the entrance lobby / washer area where everybody could leave their shoes before entering the house . There is parking for 3 cars on the drive and the rear garden is quite large . The children really enjoyed running around playing in the lovely weather we experienced whilst staying at the house .The large Windows throughout the house made it a very bright place to stay . Now the negatives.... I believe when we visited the property it was probably at the end of its cycle before refurbishment. The furniture in the lounge was stained and well worn with one sofa having a ripped cushion . The wall lights do not work in the lounge/kitchen area or the lower hallway or stairs.This concerned us the most as anybody coming down the stairs at night wouldn't be able to see where they were going . The upstairs bedrooms blinds didn't work and one of the skylight windows would not open . As this is the only window in the room it would be quite unbearable to sleep in there during a hot spell. The downstairs bathroom /shower room require some TLC. The bath mat in the bathroom was ripped and mouldy and the floor tiles in these rooms need to be looked at as there is a massive crack running through from one room to the other . The shed / bar in the garden is unusable as it is quite filthy with the fridge though working is full of mould. One note of caution with the stone paving near the table and chairs . When wet they are quite dangerous ,one of my grandchildren slipped up on one of the moss covered slabs and cut his knee open . A good jet wash would easily solve that problem . Having said all this as a family we had a great time . The area is full of easy accessible empty beaches and there is lots to see and do . I have the highest regard for Lucy as a host,she has been so helpful and accommodating over the last two and a half years to make sure this event happened . Thank you so much . We have many good memories of our stay in Icklesham .

Beautiful house for a relaxing break

We had a great time renting this property. Excellent communication with the owner upon booking and prior to our stay. House was well stocked and accommodating for all 10 of us staying. Lovely space and lovely location.

We had a fab stay at The Old School! The kitchen and living area works really well and is a lovely place to hangout. There is a children's playground next door which is great for younger kids, and there is also a zip-wire which our 9 and 12 year old had loads of fun on, plus there is a big field for dogs to run around in which was brilliant! The garden has sun all day and, even though we didn't use it as it was a bit too cold, the outside table and chairs would be a great spot for lunches and dinners in the warmer months. Lucy was really communicative and left clear instructions. The only 2 negatives - the house could really do with a good deep clean and the master bedroom could really do with curtains and blinds on the 3 windows in there to help with morning sun and the noise from the road. We had a great time.

Wonderful stay at The Old School House

We stayed over the August Bank holiday with 2 other families and 6 little humans all under 6! The house was very clean and ready for us arriving. Lucy the host had even left us a little treat in the fridge that was greatly appreciated after the long drive. All the appliances are new and top quality in the kitchen. So many glasses, plates, cutlery and essentials in the food cupboard. It is super equipped for children with loads of games, toys and all the digital tv channels. The outside games are fantastic - we didn't get much time to socialise in the garden however there's a BBQ and lovely outdoor sitting area. The annexes in the upstairs rooms provided great sleeping arrangements for the little ones. The bathrooms were all new and very clean. Beds all super comfy with lots of clean towels and linen. We would highly recommend The Old School House for a quality stay with friends and family - its only 20mins from Cambersands were we spent most days. Lucy was really helpful from start to finish and provided lots of communication and covered everything with her guides. Highly recommend.

Few minor issues with the water however the owner was lovely and kindky accommodated the request which got the problem fixed immediately. Which was really efficient! Birthday Celebrations

We stayed here with our children, my brother, sister in law and nephew and my parents. We were celebrating my Mums 60th birthday. The house was exactly what we needed. Our children enjoyed the toys and the children’s bedroom and we loved how social the living space was. There were some issues with electricity in the garden and summer house, so we didn’t get to use those but it didn’t affect our stay. The location is great. We had lovely trips to Winchelsea, Camber and Rye, and a lovely pub lunch at The Queen’s Head!

Great location for exploring

9 adults and older children stayed for a 4 nights. The Old School has a big open plan area which fitted everyone easily. There are plenty of chairs and the table is big enough to sit everyone too. Although we didn't need to use any of the baby equipment there is plenty of additional bits eg cots, highchairs, stair gates, bath seats, pushchairs for a younger family. The garden is secure and there are plenty of games & toys in the summer house. The house is well situated a short walk from The Queen's Head pub which does great food and has friendly staff. Across and up the lane is a path marker for the 1066 trail and it's a 2.5 miles walk across country to Winchelsea - beautiful views on the way. Turn right out of the house and next door but one is a park and play park where we played cricket and walked the dogs. A lovely week in a lovely house in a lovely location

I live in London, England with my husband, daughter and son. We both work in London but bought The Old School in 2010 as we wanted to spend weekends out of the city and enjoy the English countryside at its best. We love the house and buying in the beautiful area of Icklesham, on the Brede Valley, with the beach a short distance away, was the best decision we ever made for us and our children. We both love travelling and are lucky enough to have visited many far flung countries and have brought pieces of furniture back with us from our travels which we've used to decorate the house. Our favourite past times are cooking, socialising with friends, playing and watching sports and skiing.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

We bought The Old School after falling in love with the area. We wanted a house with lots of character in a village with a great pub, close to the beach and beautiful country walks. Icklesham gave us all of that -its on the edge of the stunning Brede Valley with plenty of walking and cycling routes and we have the award-winning, family-friendly Queen's Head pub a few minutes walk away with wonderful staff and food. The picturesque towns of Winchelsea and Rye are close-by and there is lots to do in the area for all ages, whatever the weather.

Being close to Camber Beach is heaven in the summer time although we can enjoy blustering walks all through the winter too. The location is easy to get to from London via road or train.

Overall, we love the area!

The Old School, dating from 1845, is a unique property with great open plan, double height ceiling space in the living area and cosy bedrooms. We've completely refurbished it inside whilst retaining the important period features such as the huge fireplace.

It's perfect for families too with the large self-contained garden making is safe for kids to run around in. We've tried to supply all the practical and fun things you need when holidaying with children.

If you love good food, there are numerous fantastic restaurants in the area and the beaches of Camber and Winchelsea are a short drive away for all the beach-lovers. If you like an active holiday, there are so many options available from watersports, golf, tennis to bowling to name a few. There really is something for everyone!
