3 bedroom 6 bed cabin tucked in the woods next to Mount Emily Recreation Area (3,700 acres of recreation and miles of free trails) -- just minutes from town. Enjoy hiking, biking, and skiing right out the front door. Host a dinner party in the large kitchen, or cook on the BBQ under the covered deck while your dogs play in the fenced yard. Finish your day cozied up next to the wood stove while the kids enjoy a movie in the bunk room.

High end cabin experience

I frequently do road trips across the US with my two pups, and I used to stay at roadside motels, but this time I decided to use VRBO, and I was blown away at how awesome this place was. First off, the arrival was really easy given that there is a huge driveway and an extra wide covered parking stall that could support two Ford F150s. There is a big fenced off area so i put the dogs there first. Then the entire area was well lit, which made unloading easy. The door had a digital lock amd it was easy to get in. The cabin was nice and toasty, there were plenty of plates, cups, towels, etc. There were also nice little additions like a towel to use for cleaning the dogs. The interior was perfectly renovated, and it was obvious they spent a lot of money. There were plenty of new TVs, board games, wifi... pretty much everything you could want. And finally, everything was labled so things were easy to find. Would highly reccomend for people who are fed up with going to the big cities for holidays and staying at overpriced 5 star hotels. I, myself, am from Whistler, Canada, and I much prefer authentic cabin experiences like this one.

The perfect get away!

Our family, three married couples, stayed here for the third time! We love this place. The trails are great for hiking. The woods are beautiful. It is a gorgeous little retreat. The host is the kindest person who wants to make your stay perfect. Five out of five stars is simply not enough.

Such a great place to gather with family. Games, outdoor space for talking and relaxing. Beds were comfortable and very clean. We just did not have time to take advantage of all the outdoor opportunities. Love to come again.

Family Reunion

Our experience was truly amazing. The cabin is situated in the mountains. The property owners have thought of everything from the fenced yard and dog door for your pet, to entertainment provided for young and old alike. The cabin is rustic, clean and absolutely beautiful inside. Also, hiking trails are within walking distance from the cabin.

Amazing Place to Relax

Everyone enjoyed

Our family meets up from Washington and Idaho over the Fourth of July every year. This year, we met in Oregon at the Owl's Nest outside of LaGrande, OR. This property is dog-friendly, with a fenced yard so didn't have to watch them every moment. (Just clean up after them!) There are hiking trails right across the road. One trail is pretty flat so great for grandma, and my 6 yr. old grandson. The other more challenging for my grown children and their spouses. The hosts are great, have supplied every need, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a blow-dryer. The beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen is fully stocked with every cooking utensil, dishes, pantry items, etc. The views from the wrap-around porch and deck were breathtaking and the gas fire pit perfect for evening wine and smores! We have found our home away from home for our annual gathering. And did I mention only 15 minutes away from a lake (non-motorized), perfect for fishing, paddle boarding and swimming. Only 4 miles from town with many restaurant choices, grocery stores, and a quaint bookstore with great prices. What a gem and beautiful location!

This property is great. Location literally could not be more convenient. The small things like a hose to wash off your bikes and a stand to fix things really made a difference. Host was welcoming and available.

A fantastic escape!

Wow- we were blown away by the beauty of the surrounding area, the coziness of the house, and the lovely outdoor spaces on the property! The beds are high quality and so comfortable, the house has everything you need, including a covered section of the patio for the rainy days. It was great to be a few minutes from town, but up in our own part of the woods. We saw dear out the side yard, loved the smell of the wood, and were sad we had to leave. We would all stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

We met in college and now are neighbors in La Grande. Both of us are born and raised in Oregon and have found our way back to NE Oregon after living around the West.

The Owl's Nest is located at MERA trailhead with a great view of town, minimal neighbors and lots of privacy. You are close enough for a visit to the brewery after a bike/ski or a quick trip to Liberty Cafe for an amazing breakfast sandwich.
